Mabr Carson too spamming the boards with their weekly job ads.
Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
Between that and banning AirBnbs.. BC has had a good week.
Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
Weird reason why they require it, but great result for sure!
I hope other provinces do the same. There's really no reason why not to.

Any chance the airlines would be able pull the 'federally regulated industry'-crap to avoid the new rules?

Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
They wont have to. The Ontario rules will only apply to jobs paying less than 100K, so airlines can just point to the pay scales that top out well over that and say 'doesn't apply'.
In the case of Pasco, just stop advertising in BC, and start advertising thru the Alberta side of the operation.
Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
Hmmm I doubt you can ignore it if part of your pay scale is above 100k. Seems illogical to hide salary for a 35k fo job because a captain can make more than 100k. Doesn't mean companies won't try though.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:12 pmThey wont have to. I think the BC rules take into account the location of the job, not the address of the mother company. But we'll have to see how that works in practice.

It would seem to me that the reporter didn’t really read the bill.
Carson already posts their scale
I think that PASCO falls in line in either ‘25 or ‘26.
(3) Unless exempted by regulation, an employer that has the following number of employees on January 1 of the applicable year is a reporting employer:
(a) for 2024, 1 000 or more;
(b) for 2025, 300 or more;
(c) for 2026, 50 or more;
(d) for a year after 2026, more than the lesser of 49 and any prescribed number.

Yes, airlines are federally regulated and these provincial laws are unlikely to apply to them. The doctrines of Paramountcy and Pith and Substance have many many decisions on them so I don't claim to be an expert, but generally speaking, since there already is a Federal Labour Code, these provincial statutes won't apply.

Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
Paramountcy is almost never applied in division of powers cases, and I can't think of a single employment related case. Not sure pith and substance is either. The most "applicable" doctrine (pun intended) would be interjurisdictional immunity, but even that, I can't think of a single employment case relying on that either.JBI wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 4:16 am Yes, airlines are federally regulated and these provincial laws are unlikely to apply to them. I guess no need to post those pay scales on the actual job posting. Had to dig for itNorth Shore wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:53 pm It would seem to me that the reporter didn’t really read the bill.

Pasco is posting their pay in their most recent job ads:
Re: Does this mean Pasco might actually have to disclose their "NEW PAY SCALE?"
What kind of housing in YVR does 50K/yr gets you ?
Oh and low experience hires get 40K on their first year …
Truly mystifying that they can’t retain their staff and have to constantly rehire. What could it possibly be?

It's a nov 10 ad. I posted on the 9th. And on the 9th the pay wasn't posted on their website under the job opening, but available on another pageNorth Shore wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:53 pmhttp://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtop ... t=203060Me262 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 4:52 amI guess no need to post those pay scales on the actual job posting. That's the latest posting date. The ad has been the same in all of its iterations for the last 6+ months..

I have heard that new Dec's have asked for and received 120 to start. If they offer you the job, remember you get what you negotiate.
