Seeking advice on pilot application in Canada
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding my pilot applications (F/O) in Canada. I have applied to multiple airlines and most of them have specific requirements such as flight time, among other things. However, despite meeting these requirements, I have not received any interview invitations. I have been using the resume from the Pilot Career Center website for over 6 months now, but haven't seen any progress. I attempted to contact them by phone, but no one was able to provide any assistance or follow-up.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation? Could you recommend alternative approaches or advise if I might be doing something wrong? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions. Thank you in advance!
Additional information,
I have around 650 TT
IATRA
CPL
Multi-engine group 1 instrument rating

Re: Seeking advice on pilot application in Canada
Took me 8 months and about 60 apps to finally land a job. I never heard back from the majority. Got about 3 PFOs and one interview.
It will take time keep trying, calling around, and maybe finding a ground job in the meantime.

650 hours isn’t super competitive yet. Keep building time where you are and keep applying. You will have success eventually!

What airlines? Any of the major regionals you won't be competitive at yet, with the exception of Jazz possibly.

You can search for WestJet.

Also, there's a LOT of aviation in Canada, most of it outside of the big cities. Look up some operators, show up, and shake hands.... Emailed CV w personalized cover letter is fine too, with respectful follow-up by phone (unless they explicitly say not to). Unless they explicitly say not to, many of the smaller operators will not look unfavourably on someone who shows up and waits to speak with the CP/Ops Mgr.
Re: Seeking advice on pilot application in Canada
A couple of questions:
1) What country is your experience from? What aircraft type?
2) You have PR or citizenship in Canada, right?
3) If you've been applying for 6 months and have 650 hours, have been gaining experience over the last 6 months, you probably started applying with very little flying time. Am I correct? I suspect you may be a bit low on the experience end of things to be competitive.
Good luck!
