What sort of compensation would be reasonable regarding not providing senior pilots 1 day pairings?
Where would you recommend they draw the line, as to who to compensate?

What would your suggestion be for a reassignable policy be?
I think you either compensate with time or money. We rely so much on "benchmarking" but as far as I can tell many of the other major carriers 1) give you the day off or 2) pay you draft when they need to mess with your schedule. (I am not looking at Air Canada since their rules are a) almost 10 years old at this point b) the industry was in a much different place when they were brought in c) was ushered in by the terrible leadership that was ACPA and d) are about to change.
Your schedule gets adjusted by the company after it was released? either you get the extra days off (probably not possible with our staffing levels in 90% of cases) or you get draft for whatever they switch you into.
I think AG is a very competent/smart person. His comments on calls - when he doesn't give the canned "we're working with the FOAG" - show his experience and expertise. I'm glad and excited that he is here to bring long needed change/structure to the Crew Resources department. I just think the pilot group should have a larger say on the framework that he works within and him copying and pasting the rules that AC works under is not the play.

Take the time to read though Westjet, Air Canada, transat, Jazz, flair etc… contracts.
You’ll find that we are at industry standard.
Interesting, I've seen some analysis that shows how much our work rules (outside of pay) lag compared to others. If this is the case it sure would be nice of our pilot reps to show us this instead of always using "the things we talk about are confidential" line.

I don’t think our commuting policy is standard. It actually sounds pretty bad compared to WJ and AT.

Then I guess it’s a good thing to give both management and the FoAG your feedback rather than complaining about it on an Internet forum.

I’d love to see this analysis. I’ve worked at numerous 705s, curious as to what you find “incomparable”

What commuting policy are you looking for? No airline in Canada pays for duty that is missed because you didn’t show up to work.
The Porter policy is simple, it’s your job to be there, if there’s a flight, and you get bumped, you won’t get fired but you’re not getting credits.
It’s kinda no frills, but it’s kinda the consensus.
While being a commuter and accepting this for my career, there is more to a simple policy. Things like Deadhead changes, etc which Porter does not have that make a policy.
That said, our priority for Porter flights leads the pack for sure and unlike other carriers they certainly do not punish you if you cannot make it to work.
