Flight Benefits at Air Transat for pilots and their families

Post by RoAF-Mig21 »

Can someone let me know what type of flight benefits Air Transat has for its pilots?

I imagine we can use Air Transat to fly standby, as employes, but what about:

1. Is Air Transat on my ID travel? Can pilots book standby on Lufthansa, LOT and Qantas? (I often fly those airlines)
2. Can pilots and their family (spouse, kids fly as well?)
3. Do parents of the pilots get flight benefits?
4. Is there a list of airlines I can check that AT pilots and their families can fly on?

I'm considering applying to Air Transat for the F/O position, however I need to know the travel benefit package, as they are a very important part of my decision. I use MyID travel quite often to fly my family to and from Europe/Australia.

Thank you.

Hi there,

You have MyID for almost every airline worldwide. It's a huge list which I'm fairly certain includes those guys.

Can register immediate family, parents and kids and partner, to fly stby on all the listed carriers without having to be accompanied. Also all MyID.

Can standby on TS anytime as per usual, but you also get 2 free round trip tickets per year, and can bank them up and also use single legs as half the ticket. Entitled to club class if available but it's a cheap upgrade to guarantee it. I believe your registered beneficiaries can use these on their own as well, perhaps someone else can confirm this.

Unlimited employee pricing if you don't want to use those.

Every month you get a selection of deeply discounted vaca packages for employees. I'm not 100% sure how many people you can book for or if they have to be your registered beneficiaries, but the company is great if you ask, and they'll likely just provide it anyways. Good personal and friendly culture.

Can send anyone 10-15% off flights for friends and family.

Cheers!

Most major airlines have pretty extensive programs, my suggestion would be to work for a company you want to work for instead of where family wants to travel to. It’s a long career to work somewhere for travel privileges.

Not at the moment since AT doesn't have a business class cabin. But that will change when they get a proper business class cabin with the coming 787s.

I can find zero references to AT obtaining 787s, have anything tangible on that?

I cannot give you anything that you or anyone would consider tangible at this moment. But the announcement is coming soon.

I sure hope you aren’t signing up for a ridiculous, actually, absolutely insane 30,000$ bond for the travel benefits. That’ed be more insane than the idea of pilots actually signing up for a 30,000$ bond which I didn’t think was possible.

Man these Encore pilots sure have an issue with Air Transat. There's a simple solution to you guys, but best clean up your own backyard first though.

Upset people call Transat pilots out for paying a bond in the age of a pilot shortage? You guys are so brainwashed it’s more embarrassing than AC flat pay.

I’m insulted you think I’m encore but honestly I’d rather go there than being tied to a 30,000$ bond

Hope those Transat travel benefits are worth that 30,000$!

Why do you think Encore pilots have an issue with Transat? I know personally of at least half of dozen of them who went there.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

No, I'm not considering going to Transat only for the travel benefits. That's part of my decision though. I have family in Europe and we travel there often (3 - 4 times a year, mostly on Lufthansa, LOT and Austrian)

The two main reasons I want to go to Transat are:

1. I get to fly to Europe in the summer and South in the winter, but mostly because I get to fly to Europe.
2. I'm guaranteed to fly the A321/A330 and I love Airbus. Plain and simple.

Work satisfaction is very important to me and layovers are one of the things that make me happy in life. It was awful having to layover in YTS as opposed to LGA, which I really really like.

The type of flying, destinatinos and aircraft are exactly what I want as a career. The 3 year bond is not an issue for me, because if I go there, I will stay. The problem I have, which is something that I need to look deeper into, is the salary. I need to inform myself before making a decision.

There aren't many options for guys like me. AC, Transat or Westjet. The first one may seem like a no brainer, but it has its challenges. For now I'm just looking for information. I made no decision yet.

Do not waste too much time listening clowns like Mach08. The reality is that the job at Transat is superb. We have an excellent lifestyle (sure it always sucks the first years at every airline) but we are extremely well treated. Top class hotels everywhere; nice layovers in Europe and in nice all inclusives in the south. You will move Captain very fast; and get a t4 above 300k way faster than at any other airline in Canada; working max 15 days per month. So if you look at what you get paid versus what you work, you will be within 5 years at the same spot as 25 years at Air Canada.
That is the true reality; and it pisses some people apparently. Give me a direct entry captain at Air Canada and I wouldn’t even go; lifestyle is a lot better at Transat!

Do you have an up to date pay scale, and answer how you can go from new hire to left seat in 5 years making 300k.
Is there some expansion or massive retirements on the near horizon?

I’m a clown for having enough self respect not to sign a 30,000$ training bond in the greatest pilot shortage in history? You guys are so delusional it’s hilarious.

cdnavater, Transat pilots make shit up to help justify why they signed this ridiculous bond. Keep slurping up management boys, you’re doing great!

Sorry to hear your application was denied and missed the opportunity to turn Air Transat down for Encore. All the best in 2024, maybe it'll be your year.

Side note, the haters all sound very similar in posting hmmm

Around 4-5 I think but there will be a shortage of upgradable pilots in the next 18 months or so. Should make it faster for anyone with experience joining by then.

TFTMB,
Good day, could you answer a few questions about pay?
Do you carry YOS from right to left seat?
What is the Captain and FO pay scale to year 10?

YOS are not carried but after 4 years I think you start at captain year 2. A search in this forum will show you the current scales.

Ok, thanks.
I was thinking there’s no way after 5 years anyone is making 300k
