Please spread the word on the line. Has everyone been saving up for 3 months of pay for strike? If not start saving up for a strike. It can and most likely will happen between Jul-Sep and we will hit them hard. No concessions!!! Management has already started planning big time for strike as not much is happening on the bargaining table. This time we will actually get a world class contract similar to American, Delta, Alaska etc as they are our direct competitors and not Westjet. We compare our financials against US major airlines. Our Exec’s are also paid in millions on par with US major airlines. We are not going to back down and come what may, our pilots are ready to strike. We are not going to compromise on pay and quality of life.

I would be concerned that people hired in the last 4-6 years likely haven't been able to save for a 3 month strike, especially living in YYZ or YVR. With the current pay, they will simply hammer themselves into debt with a 3 month strike.

You could make the argument of short term pain, long term gain... but if you've ever watched humans as a whole and not individuals.... you'll likely know that is not how we work. We want instant gratification.

I wish you all good luck as it helps all of us in the industry. (Assuming you get a world class contract, because if you settle for the norm you lower the entire profession). And all you senior captains have no excuse not to bat for the new guys.

I think maybe tight for some but i don’t see anyone going deep into debt or debt at all.

You should look into ALPA strike pay. It's nowhere near what you make flying, but it helps.

So for some of our newer pilots, it could indeed be a raise. However, there must be a cumulative of 14 days strike before being eligible.

Meh, get or pull money out of a line of credit or savings for a while if you have to. That's what I'm prepared to do. If we get the gains we are fighting for, I'll have no problem paying that off/replenishing the account in short order. I'm ready for a strike yesterday. Most will be able to handle it just fine knowing what the alternative is.

1 year after passing your line indoc? So like 1.5 years from starting.

We only get strike pay if we're on strike for more than 14 days. For the first 14 days, we get nothing. I'm ready either way. Just know for budgeting purposes that if we're on strike for less than 2 weeks, it will be entirely without income.

Profit Sharing should be arriving in April. Anyone with an ounce of common sense should put that straight into savings, you might need it soon.

And don't forget to cash in those shine points! I have a couple of prepaid visas sitting on top of my fridge just waiting to buy gas and groceries during the strike. Couldn't think of a better use of Mike Rousseau's "good will". He seems issue 50K points quarterly ($500) so planning on getting 1-2 more before we set the park brake! Thanks Mike ya big goof!

Absolutely. Might not even be a bad idea to withdraw the annual ESOP match and transfer into a high interest savings
