Job Requirements In Ads
Job requirements seem to be all over the place for the same type of aircraft. I’m trying to understand the appeal some of these companies have. Are they actually getting candidates with the experience requirements posted? if not, what’re they actually hiring at?
ORNGE is asking 2000 hrs for a PC12 Captain, which is the same requirements 705 operators want to fly a Q400 as Captain. The 705’s seem to be struggling to find qualified applicants, so why would someone take a PC12 job over that? They paying that much more? If they aren’t, what’re these companies hoping to gain from posting these numbers?
What jobs are most people getting at each milestone from your experience?
Ex.
500-1000 hrs : Single Piston PIC, 703 Fo/King Air Fo
1000-1500 hrs : Twin Piston PIC, Single Turboprop PIC, Multi Turboprop Fo
1500-2000 hrs : Multi Turboprop PIC , Jet Fo
Over 2000 hrs : Mainline 705, Multi Turboprop PIC, Jet PIC

Re: Job Requirements In Ads
Hour requirements are usually due to the insurance/contract requirements.
Re: Job Requirements In Ads
Location, DEC vs a few years of FO, lifestyle, company stability.
Those are all things that could factor in. At non unionized companies you might be able to negotiate a bit more regarding pay and schedule.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

The type of hours matter quite a bit too. A 2000hr PC-12 FO is a great candidate for PC-12 captain, but not likely to do well in a Q400 left seat.

Here's a great one for laughs. "BC Yukon air" on pcc is asking for 2000hrs to fly a Piper cub !
Hope to god they were late on april fools

First off, it’s a Beaver/Super Cub position. Next, did you read the part about it being for BC Parks and Forestry personnel? Also, how about that location? Done much coastal and mountain float flying?

The pay should be for one's expertise and experience. Who cares what type of airplane it is. Wanna pay me 300k to fly a 172? Sure!
