1900D to mainline or regionals?
I am currently sitting at 750 ish hours, 500 of which is in the right seat of a 1900. Im wondering if I should go to a regional carrier or if I should stick it out here until 1500 ish hours at which time I could start applying to larger carriers. Basically I am just looking for the quickest route to a Boeing or Airbus. Right now I am flying 70-80 hours a month. My worry is I could stay on the 1900 making pennies until 1500-2000 and not get on with a large carrier where as I could have gone to a regional at 1000TT and been getting 705 experience and making more money.. thoughts?

Stay and go Captain on the 1900 for a year. There is a good chance you will be laid off at some point in your career and it could come in handy then. It will also set you apart from the thousand other FO's with no PIC time, give you confidence, and make you a better pilot.

Also it will make your upgrade on the Boeing / Airbus easier if you aren’t also learning how to be a captain for the first time then.pilotidentity wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 9:56 pm Stay and go Captain on the 1900 for a year. What's your rush to a jet? PIC on the 1900 will be extremely valuable for your career and will make your first jet command when the time comes that much easier.Avi8erN8 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 5:27 pm I am currently sitting at 750 ish hours, 500 of which is in the right seat of a 1900. All good advice. As someone who has thousands of hours on a 1900, it is a great plane and will provide you some invaluable PIC time eventually.
However, you have clearly said your goal is to be at an airline. Seniority is EVERYTHING. Take the jobs that will get you to WJ/AC/Porter the fastest and forget about ‘paying your dues’. The music stops all the time with hiring, so get in as quick as you can.

I got offered jobs at both WJ and AC with only King Air time, it might be you and not the time.
Take my love
Take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
You cannot take the sky from me

The 1900 is a great plane and a great time. Enjoy it while you can before you hit the big jets.

1) you’re a funny troll
2) you’re condemned to “props” for life
