At Jazz, the most they can extend you is two hours past your original check out, for any reason.
Lol, that was for you Duke

Hah. I was making a joke about making plans on layovers cuz it for sure won’t happen. But since you gotta be that guy, then maybe you should educate yourself on our policies first. Yes, jazz’s is better because they can’t extend you past 2 hours. But no one is getting extended till 10 pm when your day was supposed to be done at 3 pm.

I’ve only once been extended past check out and it was maybe an hour and a half. But cool….

Doesn't Porter also have some ACPA-esque language about "unless IROPS" or "operationally required" sort of thing where they can extend a person a long time? Maybe I'm wrong.

After re-reading the drafting section there are a couple super vague lines that could result in this happening. But they do “provide you with additional time to get personal matters in order” lol

Must have missed that part. My bad guys and gals. Guess I gotta educate myself lol.(sorry Cdnavater) I only looked at REA definition and not drafting.

Edit: sorry the attachments not quite in order.

Is this still the case?
I'd agree that it appears the blocks have come down a bit but the chaos and reassignments to cover flying is out of control. The Reassignment rules are way to loose so everything just becomes "Operational Requirement" and next thing you know all your plans get put on the backburner unless you want to use your sick time to avoid the changes.
You plan things on pairings? That’s the mistake right there…

:P
I sure as hell am not using my sick time to spend even more time in Timmins. The REA policy is bullshit - since its used way to frequently - but it at least puts a cap on the madness. Its the drafting/Duty extensions that piss people off the most. The average pairing length spiked to 3 and 4 days because that gives them the most flexibility to shuffle you around playing whack-a-mole with the gaps in the coverage. Burn the furniture (blowing up future pairings, pissing off crews, pitting crew resources against the crews) to heat the house (cover the YUL turns).

I swear I'm generally a pretty positive guy, but seeing how good it was at Porter just one year ago compared to now makes me upset. I'm hoping it's just growing pains and temporary, but at the moment there is no end in sight.
Is this on the Dash? Or E2? What made it so different compared to last year, if on the Dash? And if on the E2, how long did it take you to upgrade ? Have you been there a while?

Thank you!
I'm on the Dash. There's been a large amount of captains leaving, creating a snowball effect. QOL drops, so people leave, people leave, so QOL drops. As a group we've asked for improvements to the situation, but were met with half-assed and frankly insulting solutions.

I joined Porter because of the amazing QOL. Now I'm considering leaving because of the QOL

Qol improves with seniority. It’s the only number that matters. Pick a spot and stick with it

Is there any guidance or standard as to how many back to back days of reserve one can get or can they just assign you anything that they want (i.e 1 day all the way up to 6 days back to back)? Schedules seem very disorganized and random.

Thanks

Can't you bid your schedule? You can ask for 1 day or 6 days back to back depending on preference.

Every company has its negatives. Just like AC on reserve when you get 18 days of RSV but your recurrent sim turns into a 20 day month.

Again, do you research, pick a home and your seniority will improve

Training is on top of your flying if you're a blockholder, but if you're reserve it comes out of your 18 days.

A valid/legal bid/award would be a pattern with a minimum 3 days reserve and maximum 5 days reserve in a row. 12.25/13 days off for 30/31 day months.

After schedules are released you can request to move days off that may change that pattern somewhat, but it's at company discretion.

Oh that’s wonderful. Thanks for clarifying that.

So as a block holder you could still have to work 20 days. Cool

Not NB. 14-16 max as a blockholder depending on hours for the month + training.
WB, theoretically, there isn't a max contractual days but the flying is generally more productive.
