What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
As this "World Class Contract" ages like a rotten diarrhea dump fermenting in the tank of a B777 out of Delhi, what should the members that voted 'Yes' do?
Resign?
Get recalled?
Go into hiding?
Post a selfie about some shit about "Moving Together"?
Maybe another video from the hills of the Taliban by the MEC Chair?!

But nice try. Maybe try paying attention to your union instead of downplaying concerns

AC pilots don't even know their committees?Torontomaplelaughs wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:46 pmI think you mean "P4P"...pilot for pilotbobcatdriver wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:22 pmYou need P2P. The committee is P2P and it’s been called that for a very long time. Check it on the ALPA app.

Re: What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
Except it’s not.
What you’re referring to under ALPA is Pilot Assistance. P2P does not provide support for pilots going through a hard time, life changes, medical, addiction etc. That is Pilot Assistance.
P2P acts as a conduit between the line pilots and the MEC. They can provide feedback and get answers to questions relatively quickly, and were more relevant during negotiations to bust rumours and provide factual responses etc
Re: What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
So what I've learned from this thread:
Any concerns about the direction about the union leadership is gaslighted by mental health concerns.
And Air Canada pilots don't even know which committee to get that from

Read up a couple of posts. It was suggested someone needed to get the mental health ball rolling. P2P facilitates that. Always has. Dunno where P4P comment came from. That’s what I was correcting.Dash.Trash wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:51 amExcept it’s not.

During negotiations it was the FACT team that answered negotiations questions/misconceptions.

You are confusing with what was P2P under ACPA, which was the equivalent of what is now Pilot Assistance under ALPA.
P2P: https://aca.alpa.org/Portals/70/Documen ... 2-2022.pdf
Pilot Assistance: https://pat-prp.alpa.org/en-us
P4P is a charity designed to provide financial aid to pilots and their families following catastrophic events, hurricanes, wildfires etc.

This is hilarious.
Re: What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
Hilarious to see the company share buyback program announced this morning and profits that will be just low enough to avoid any bonus for the pilots under this new contract
Didn't ALPA say they weren't expecting the company to perform well enough for a profit share?
At least the flight attendants and maintenance workers will get some profit sharing...
Well done ALPA!!
Another concession for the pilots
At least the reps getting paid at 90 hrs won't need pilot for pilots as they aren't under any financial duress!

Re: What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
Just curious, are you sure the share buyback is not included in “profits”, I mean only an idiot would exclude share buyback from profits. You could literally hide any profit in all sorts of places, therefore, you probably have a fixed cost from which profit is calculated, I would even venture a guess that management bonuses need to come from profit, not before calculating profitFNGYYZ wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:02 am Hilarious to see the company share buyback program announced this morning and profits that will be just low enough to avoid any bonus for the pilots under this new contract![]()

Management is definitely profiting off the back of this deal and the pilots!

Re: What should happen to the Yes voting members of the MEC?
One of the four key management demands included getting rid of profit sharing. They were determined to remove it, and given their initiative will probably do so again for the FAs and Mechanics when the time comes. ALPA wanted to keep it written in the contract so in order to keep it written in the bar was raised out of sight to 20% plus or minus 2% instead of the previous 15%. It was never intended to be triggered but rather to preserve the language for future negotiations.FNGYYZ wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:02 am Hilarious to see the company share buyback program announced this morning and profits that will be just low enough to avoid any bonus for the pilots under this new contract![]()

If you saw the share buybacks getting announced then you would have seen him repeatedly stating it was to get rid of the dilution. Like it or not, they severely diluted the float and during negotiations management loved to point out the shareholders have not been made whole. The old "they are still affected by COVID". It's not ideal but to be surprised or angry over it seems pretty silly.
