A Nolinor Boeing 737-400, registration C-GGWX performing flight N5-662 from Quebec City,QC to La Baie,QC (Canada) with 87 people on board, was on approach to La Baie when the crew initiated a go around due to an unsafe gear indication. The crew decided to divert to Montreal Mirabel,QC (Canada), where the aircraft performed a landing on runway 24 with the left main gear not fully extended. The aircraft came to a stop on the runway and was evacuated. No injuries are being reported.

The Canadian TSB dispatched investigators on site.

The airline reported the aircraft suffered an incident on landing at Mirabel Airport, all 87 occupants of the aircraft are safe. The Transportation Safety Board have opened an investigation.

Thankfully not one of their -200’s.

Those machines are getting to be more and more precious as time marches by…

Is there more to this story than what it appears?

Other sources reported it was a flap issue, and another source reported YMX radio didn't even know about the pan pan declared in la Baie

Looks like it was a planned flaps up landing, that ended up with a gear collapse. Strange.

Asymmetrical flap deployment resulting in decision to divert and land without flaps in YMX. Shit went sideways on the roll out. Glad they managed to keep her on the runway. Something tells me this could have been far, far worse. Looking forward to reading the TSB report.

I only know the NG... but isn't it the same on the Classics? B system for flaps, A system for gear? Did they get a manual reversion (total hydraulic failure)?

Flaps run on B system. They can be lowered electrically if the B system fails.

I doubt it was a hyd failure. They have what looks like flaps 1. Slats are out and the flaps have started out. They most likely got a flap skew and they locked out. The gear is something else altogether.

That was a flap issue initially and then a very hard landing resulted in the left main collapsing.

This youtube video shows ceiling panels jarred loose and most of the passenger O2 masks are deployed.

Would a smooth high speed landing followed by a main gear shimmy damper failure be violent enough to cause the masks to drop?

Corrected my spelling. Yes, a smooth landing can result in a fractured torsion link and a folded gear, a known issue on the Classics.

Yes - The 737 has shimmy dampers on the main gear.
