Con:
Larger income disparity.- American Dream. Work hard, get rewarded. Weird concept eh
American environmental rules.- ??
Higher healthcare costs to the individual.- Promote healthy, active lifestyles. Net i bet you pay more in Canada. or work hard to get a great benefits providing job.
Worse schools... unless you can afford the private schools.- Homeschool if you can't handle it. With the extra takehome $$ you have from less taxes your wife can be a stay at home mother.
US gun culture and it's connected crime culture as well.- Buy a gun, Protect your family. don't be a pussy.
US prison system.- Compared to what? our beautiful system... ugh
Loss of the social safety net we have all grown up with.- You don't think there would be contigency? The Liberals have spent all of our security anyways. If you're under 40, you won't see anything...
US labour laws.- Do your job and don't be a little bitch.
There, Fixed it for ya. Any other CONs you would like figured out?
1. I love that myth. Work hard get rewarded. Total bullshit. The highest paid people on the planet tend not to work very hard. They work smart. They have some advantages from family and friends... but hard work. I'm not disagreeing that a one should not be rewarded for work, just that there is a myth about hard work. By that metric, ditch diggers should be the highest paid people around. Income disparity needs to exist but, when the gradient becomes too steep for people to change classes, it's a problem.
2. The EPA is a very hobbled organization and you wind up with places being sacrificed for corporate interests. While we our own environmental rule (especially with the constantly changing targets of the last 10 years that discourage investment) aren't perfect, we do have the cleanest oil production in the world.
3. A healthy life can be expensive. So how do you propose that people who are barely scraping by get healthier when working more than one job to survive? Details, please.
4. I don't want a gun. Not having a gun doesn't make me a pussy. Having a gun makes me a pussy. Having a gun means I am so scared of my environment and so uncertain of my own ability to defend myself in hand to hand combat that I need to carry a pacifier to feel safe. If you want a gun, enjoy. But don't think it makes you tough.
5. Our prison system isn't great but; We don't have the highest percentage of population in the world incarcerated in our prisons; our prisons are run by the government and not private for profit companies. There are incidents where prisons paid off judges to throw people into jail who had committed no crimes, and would not release them after the sentence was over because... for profit. There are differing levels of bad in the world.
6. Pretty cynical. If you have ever collected EI, you have been a recipient of the social safety net. Did you get payments during covid? Safety net. The safety net provides a level of protection never designed to live on, but to stop you from being homeless and starving to death until you get to work and get back on your feet. If you don't agree with having a social safety net, that's fine but don't pretend it's not there.
7. What a wonderful attitude you have. I presume it's all rainbows and unicorns in your world and you have never had a company want to own you 24/7 or do anything wrong to you. Withhold pay for no reason; fire you for being sick; fire you for not coming in on your only day off; punish you for made up bullshit. But hey, when you sit in a lovely little perch looking down on everyone else, it's easy to be an asshole. Because we all know what assholes do. They go around shitting on everything.
My point still stands. There are pro's to the US, there are con's to the US. Just like here. There is no perfect place to live.
I'm going to knock this up a notch with my spice weasle. Bam!
