If Santa doesn't bring you what you ask for this year are you going to blame the Canada Post strike?
Re: Which is Better for Aviation:
10 more years of Trudeau, aviation won’t matter, nobody will be able to afford to travel anyway
Re: Which is Better for Aviation:
I did far better under Trudeau in aviation and in general than I did under Harper.
Maybe correlation doesn’t imply causation.

Trudope is politically finished and hopefully a bad memory before next October but he and his party have done so much damage that I don’t think the country will ever heal unfortunately.
If Trump takes over at least I might get to buy more guns and get cheap beer.

Re: Which is Better for Aviation:
Depends on who you are. If you own a FBO, you'd be getting some of that sweet, sweet government money from a military fuel contract. If you're anyone else like a working pilot or AME it would turn out worse when you have to renegotiate your wage when you have to lose part of it to pay for a health plan, among other losses. I've looked into moving to the US several times when job opportunities arose. Each time it was a wash. All gains were wiped out by healthcare costs, because even a good plan like a big oil company provides isn't as comprehensive as one might wish.
GA in Canada wouldn't improve much either because of, well, winter. Sure a bit more corporate jet traffic might come north, but it already does.
In all my time in aviation, when I've compared my wages and working conditions with my counterparts in the US who have similar experience level, I am always coming out on top. If you're a sub 1500 hour pilot, Canada becoming a state would be disastrous for you. The only thing that would be good would be a simplification of us taking on the FAA rules, though there are some bad things that would come with that too.

I'm not sure what's more depressing: That everyone has a price, or how low the price always is.

Re: Which is Better for Aviation:
Who are these anti-Canada nutsacks that keep spamming this board about becoming the 51st state? Traitors if you ask me. Can we ban these posters and delete their dumb as shit threads?
Re: Which is Better for Aviation:
We don't have to become 51st state, just integrate our air transport sector under the FAA.
A key difference is the FAA has a mandate to promote aviation, TC's only mandate is to act as a regulator.
Also nationalize the airports. Get rid of under pay. No more art and waterfall installations. Build EMAS not malls. Eliminate curfews.

FAA ATC and airports are much happier to accommodate GA traffic too.
