Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
That was hard to watch.
Looks like frozen elevator. A/C trying to fly speed that it was trimmed at. Pilots almost made it back.

Looks like shot at by a small missile, plane dropped from 10,000 until it recovered around 4,000, and then the pilots flew at low altitude to a completely different airport (pressurization issues? Unable to climb above the Caucasus mountains?), and maybe ran out of fuel as they started an approach over Aktau?

From the video there is no smoke trail of any kind, articles mention bird strike but they appear to have issues with pitch.
I think it’s a bit early and irresponsible to be posting speculation about missles!
Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
Plenty of evidence going around online with video and photos of the wreckage showing what appears to be shrapnel damage very similar to what a hit from a SAM does to an aircraft. Even some video from inside the cabin before the crash shows what appears to be shrapnel damage.cdnavater wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:26 pmWhat part of the link says small missle?BigQ wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 11:17 am https://x.com/flightradar24/status/1871 ... 73/photo/2

I’ve since seen that but the poster provider a flight path and nothing else, led me to believe they were speculating on nothing but thatACYYC wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 4:27 pmPlenty of evidence going around online with video and photos of the wreckage showing what appears to be shrapnel damage very similar to what a hit from a SAM does to an aircraft. Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
All the shrapnel holes in the wreckage leads me to believe it was heavily damaged in flight and had flight control
problems.
problems.

This smells like the Baghdad 2003 DHL flight all over again

National post.....
Were those 20mm or 50mm sparrows? - film: 13 daysRussia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, said that preliminary information showed that the pilots diverted to Aktau after a bird strike led to an emergency on board.
Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
Reports that the plane was denied approach into Grozny because the airport was under attack by Ukraine.
Videos from the cabin shows shrapnel holes and masks deployed.
Not an enviable position for sure.

Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
Ugghhh. Sure looks like shrapnel damage in tail section. The way the plane was oscillating up and down before impact leads me to believe those pilots did one hell of job getting that plane remotely close to landing. Shades of the Sioux City accident.
Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
Videos are consistent with a total loss of hydraulics for whatever reason. E190 has boosted ailerons with no manual reversion and FBW tail.
Re: Azerbaijan Airlines
There's no doubt - this thing was shot down.
The LH horizontal stab and elevator are peppered in the same way.

Since I am the original poster of this thread, are you referring to me? Where in my post did I speculate about any cause to this accident?cdnavater wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 4:41 pmI’ve since seen that but the poster provider a flight path and nothing else, led me to believe they were speculating on nothing but thatACYYC wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 4:27 pmPlenty of evidence going around online with video and photos of the wreckage showing what appears to be shrapnel damage very similar to what a hit from a SAM does to an aircraft. No, if you go back and read, I quoted BigQ who speculated about a small missile but provided a link to the flight track, nothing about a missilerookiepilot wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 2:24 pmSince I am the original poster of this thread, are you referring to me?
