Why this job pay like sh*t?

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
Prince Rupert has everything a small city has. It has daily flights to Vancouver but as you can see its at the end of the road but not really isolated. Seal Cove float base has a great aviation community and would be a good place for an appy or even licenced guy to spend time getting experience. As with all places some call it home and some spend a few years there and move on. If you like the ocean and are a boat person and like fishing/sea food then this is a great place.
Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
To what end? If you've got an M1 license you can work pretty much anywhere in Canada nowadays.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
It might get you out of ON and to the West coast, that in itself would be "to what end"
Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
I'm genuinely curious: are there companies on the West Coast that would turn down an M1 licensed AME if they applied and made somewhat of an acceptable first impression?
Based on stories from (ex)colleagues, I'm under the impression that all of Canada is looking for AMEs, and thus people could work for more money in a more desirable spot on the West coast. But that's just stories.

I started my career in Northern Saskatchewan
NOBODY was making 100k a year working m1. Shit, as a fourth year apprentice I was being paid 26.50 an hour.

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
For sure, you could get a job making 100k annually working in a modern metropolis with all the associated conveniences and luxuries, but you still will be living in the rental class.digits_ wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 11:47 amI'm genuinely curious: are there companies on the West Coast that would turn down an M1 licensed AME if they applied and made somewhat of an acceptable first impression?

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
Where are all these 100k/140k a year jobs for m1 engineers?
There is exactly 1 posted in the job ads section here and it's Inlands.
That's a STARTING WAGE of roughly $52/hr
if you're in the majors, thats pretty much where you will top out!
I don't know of another small operator offering more right now.

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
solution (why this job pay like sh*t?) is very simple
close down centennial college, and prevent further international students from centennial joining Canadian aviation workforce
its really as simple as that, its simple supply and demand
all problem will be solved if we just close down centennial college, I am not joking especially since only thing the international students do at centennial college downsview campus is cheat on all exams and ruin canadians' centennial college experience
do international students from centennial college EVER join CAF? NOT A FUCKING CHANCE
are centennial international students always looking to work at a lower wage or receieve government subsidized wage? ABSOLUTELY
What do those 2 factors do? drive Canadian aviation work force wage lower

Your therapy isn’t going according to plan. Again, it’s not normal nor is it healthy to come back to Avcanada with this new found level of hatred. (Who are you mad at again? It’s getting a wee bit hard to follow you)
On another yet thread related note… should anyone be curious about Donuthole’s job offer I can confirm that if I were on the Mx side, wouldn’t hesitate to collaborate with his organization. ‘Rupert is what you make out of it. The locals there happen to make the place special and imho for all the good reasons!

It really is a simple math, you may refuse to acknowledge this, but everyone except you is really starting to understand thisTeePeeCreeper wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 11:50 pmHi alter ego aka « ludivicchu »,

if those international students come here with experience or licensed from EASA or something, nobody complains, completely acceptable
but scam diploma mills such as centennial really is a problem, all they do is lower wages for everyone else

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?
It does if you just take whatever is offered, people that are multi-endorsed and are experienced can command whatever they want these days with the pool being drawn from being pretty well dried up. Canada (from what transport Canada has disclosed in the last year or so) has had an AME population shrinkage of 1300 licenses from the 17000 published in 2019. You can disclose numbers (unless you’ve previously disclosed your current employer) without breach of said NDA.helicopterray wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:22 pm This job does not 'pay like sh*t.'
I've been in the industry 37 years. Getting paid exceptionally well by my current employer, and also by my the previous 3 employers going back over 10 years. I won't tell you my numbers because I signed an NDA. The companies I talk to regularly pay very well as well, so I do feel like I have a good idea on the industry.
You come across as someone who didn't have the skills to make it in the industry and got weeded out fairly quickly. It happens. So now you come back here venting about how horrible the industry itself is. But you wouldn't know, you got weeded out.
For your own piece of mind, move on. Find another hobby, website, to pass your time.
