Not to mention the expensive mandatory classes before you're even allowed to write them....

Re: Which European airline would you join if Canada joins the European Union?
You really don't want to join the EU.
It means giving up your Sovereignty - EU decides who you have to let in to your country. Each country gets a quota of migrants.
If you don't control your border - you're not a country imho.
Do you really want to become France, Belgium or the UK?
Then there's Romania where the 'wrong' candidates have been removed from the ballot.
These countries serve as a warning - Politicians aren't listening. A revolt is just a matter of time imho.
EU Parliament has no power - all decisions are made by unelected leaders who the people cannot vote out of Office.
EU Politicians have given themselves immunity from prosecution. Nice.
Does this sound like Democracy to you? I'd call it Communism.
You don't want any of this.

Sounds like Capitalism to me. Has nothing to do with the workers owning the means of production.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 2:31 am Does this sound like Democracy to you? I'd call it Communism.

Maybe authoritarianism is a better word.
Re: Which European airline would you join if Canada joins the European Union?
What a silly post. You could change EU to Canada or US, and the countries to Provinces or States and make the same analysis. Yes, if you work together you give up part of your autonomy or sovereignty. That's the whole point. You limit your own freedom to enjoy help from the other party.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 2:31 am You really don't want to join the EU.

What the EU needs is more cooperation. It's not a coincidence that the US is now trying to break up the EU. The European countries are significantly more powerful while working together than they would ever have been by themselves. In today's climate Europe would have been significantly worse off if there was no EU. It's an illusion to think that would have stopped migrant flows. The UK seems to generally regret leaving the EU.
Democracy and communism are theoretically not mutually exclusive. And there is no cummunist country in Europe at the moment. Abusing that word only weakens your arguments. Save it, the way things are going, you might have to start using it in its proper context.

LOL Wizz is a greasy operator, post covid "yea we will hire you back but back to the bottom of the pay scale". Hungary is in fact not based at all. Orban has destroyed the freedom of press, free elections, pillaged social services. Meanwhile his plumber best buddy is the richest person in the country winning contracts all over the place. Country is a mess.

This is absolutely correct! The EU was created to stop Germany invading France every few decades. It is incredibly inefficient and anti democratic. You really don't want to join the EU.
It means giving up your Sovereignty - EU decides who you have to let in to your country. Each country gets a quota of migrants.

Everything I wrote about the EU is true - including that it's not a Democracy.digits_ wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 7:32 am What a silly post. What parts are silly exactly? This is how the EU operates.
You can't compare provinces within a single country to separate individual countries - they are not remotely the same thing.
EU is self destructing under the weight of all the lies - Ukraine/COVID/Climate change/Multiculturalism.What the EU needs is more cooperation.
What the EU needs is leaders who represent the people - and actually do what the people want.
People don't want mass migration - especially people who are not culturally compatible.
We don't need the entire EU becoming Molenbeek.
As for Brexit - the idea is the correct one. Unfortunately the politicians have screwed it up (as usual..).
Look no further than the UK - Keir Starmer is a Marxist imho.Democracy and communism are theoretically not mutually exclusive. And there is no cummunist country in Europe at the moment. Abusing that word only weakens your arguments. Save it, the way things are going, you might have to start using it in its proper context.
He has blocked the inquiry into the rape gangs - he's involved in the original coverup and any inquiry is the end of his career.
The UK is starting to look like something out of '1984'. It's no longer a Democracy imho.
People are being imprisoned for postings on facebook and other non crimes such as expressing the 'wrong' opinion.
I hold a UK passport and I'm a Londoner - I hate what has been done to my City and Country within my lifetime.
Don't let Canada go the same way. Do not become part of this insanity.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

I'm sorry you watch the CBC. Orban is beloved in his country and his country is growing despite having near 0 immigration.5degrees wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 9:21 amLOL Wizz is a greasy operator, post covid "yea we will hire you back but back to the bottom of the pay scale". Re: Which European airline would you join if Canada joins the European Union?
I'm not denying what you wrote is wrong. I'm saying it's silly to draw the conclusion that the EU is bad based on your statements. You can make the same complaints about pretty much any government. Perhaps you could conclude that the EU government is as bad as other countries' governments, which could be a fair conclusion. But none of your arguments are EU specific.
Plenty of countries have officials that are not directly elected. Plenty of countries/states have given up some kind of sovereignty in a variety of treaties. Countries make different decisions about immigration and covid and climate change etc based on their point of views that may or may not align with your own.
The problem with the EU is that it isn't powerful enough, mainly because of the -in practice- requirement that every decision is approved unanimously. We need a stronger EU, which will be achieved by giving up *more* sovereignty. You might not like the EU, but do you honestly think European countries would be better off without it in the current political climate?

Being based means being unique, not populist.
This is literally no different than an average rural Albertan town.
Based would be not caring either way.
Hungary like most countries is a great place to visit. Sure wouldn’t want to live there, though.

I'd work for KLM Cityhopper (Is that "KLM", or a partner of KLM?). They fly great planes and go to interesting places. I just flew with them two weeks ago, on the E190... and I wouldn't have to work too hard to get a new type rating.

Lufthansa
A340-600, MD-11, 747-8, and A380. All part time. Just finished reading Handling The Big Jets and started Fly The Wing, so I will obviously now know exactly what I am doing.
Actually, I just flew with a retired LH skipper. The cargo division is totally separate………different business, so you fly for one or the other).

Having to go into LCY in the E2 would be a little spicy, think it’s a steeper approach than the island.RoAF-Mig21 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 6:14 pm I'd work for KLM Cityhopper (Is that "KLM", or a partner of KLM?).
