I suppose, for those that don't have sufficient IQ to make a reasonable estimate without the need to rely on AI.

I dont think thats true at all. It doesnt test all aspects of intelligence (ie social) however what it does measure it is fairly accurate (ie logic). Intelligence is a abstract concept so yes its hard to define and measure, but IQ tests are designed to test the measurable aspects of intelligence as accurately as possible. Its not a complete or perfect picture, but it is accurate for what it is and Im not aware of a method thats more accurate or perfect for testing intelligence.tsgarp wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 3:45 pmThe concept of IQ tests has been generally dismissed in modern psychology due to the difficulties in defining IQ.pitottubey wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 7:47 amboth of those are subjects on an IQ test, amongst others.tsgarp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 6:13 pm
The whole concept of IQ is questionable because there isn’t a widely accepted definition of intelligence. For linguistic tasks, women score higher. For mathematical/spatial tasks men score higher; does being good with languages mean you are smarter than someone who is good with math, or is it vice versa?

This is very very untrue. Where did you even get that from? While theres never going to be a "perfect" way to measure something so abstract, IQ testing has plenty of merit in neuropsychology, and it has been an ever-evolving process over the last 100 years to refine the accuracy of the testing. Watch Veritasium's video on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkKPsLx ... Why is there no DEI in professional sports? I'm sure there are many women and minorities that would love to be in the NHL.

Go look up multiple intelligences.
IQ is a simplistic idea which carries very little weight to those who study cognition and learning.

Look at all the black people in basketball, the Hispanics in baseball, the mentally challenged people in football. NHL? I can’t pronounce half their names so who knows if they women or not these days?
