What's the alternative to a EU army? Let Russia and the US just annex whatever country they want?
EU army is another delusional fantasy that refuses to recognise reality.
NATO has 2 weeks of ammunition. UK has 40 (or 25) working tanks.
It's several years at a minimum to change this.
Ok so start today to rectify that. What's the alternative? Business as usual?
You don't like the current situation but you're also opposed to the plans to change this. What do you want or propose?

I love reading the title of the post thinking "mmhh thats interesting, lets see what EU airlines people like", to just jump to the end of the thread and people talking about Tanks and army. Surreal

This place is like a case study in high-functioning, aviation-flavored ADHD. One minute it’s “favourite EU airlines,” next thing you know we’re deep-diving into armor like it’s a NATO briefing. I swear half the posters here could get distracted mid-mayday call

"Did we call mayday?"
Did I mention you?
Cognitive Distortion:
Cognitive distortion is characterized by an individual's tendency to interpret neutral or general statements or events as being specifically directed at themselves. This distortion often occurs in the context of anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem and may manifest as taking undue responsibility for external events or perceiving criticism where none is intended.
Clinical Implication:
Personalization may indicate underlying psychological vulnerabilities, such as insecurity, heightened self-focus, or a predisposition to internalized guilt or shame. It can impair interpersonal relationships and reinforce maladaptive thought patterns, contributing to emotional distress and dysfunctional behavior.
KLM is/was recruiting foreigners earlier this year - pretty long thread at PPRuNe about it. I read it earlier in the year, but forget if they helped with license conversion or if you needed to do that first. It sounds like a pretty good deal. Entry pay based on age when joining.

Europe could try stopping with the cold war era russophobia and work towards a defense framework that incorporates Russia. With the USA stepping back, it would only make sense for Russia to take on a leading role in Europe's security and defense, as Russia had in previous centuries.

That argument would be much stronger if Russia hadn't initiated the only war that's going on in Europe right now...

Are you suggesting that if needed, they couldn’t spool up munitions production in a meaningful way?
No need.
No war that actually threatens sovereignty is going to last more than two weeks.
The UK has never been truly threatened by invasion in its entire history. The last time England fought and lost ground war in Britain against a continental power was in 1066.

You really don't want to join the EU.
It means giving up your Sovereignty - EU decides who you have to let in to your country. Each country gets a quota of migrants.
If you don't control your border - you're not a country imho.
Do you really want to become France, Belgium or the UK?
Then there's Romania where the 'wrong' candidates have been removed from the ballot.
These countries serve as a warning - Politicians aren't listening. A revolt is just a matter of time imho.
EU Parliament has no power - all decisions are made by unelected leaders who the people cannot vote out of Office.
EU Politicians have given themselves immunity from prosecution. Nice.
Does this sound like Democracy to you? I'd call it Communism.
You don't want any of this.
So I guess the answer from Eric to that question (Which European airline would you...) Is: None!
Granted EU is far from being perfect it is still pretty good considering!
Remember it took centuries of clashes, battles and wars from clans, villages, Kingdoms, etc.. to get to this point.
And it's an ongoing fight as you can see.
Freaking great to be able to travel and work between EU countries with not hassles from visa or Customs! (Assuming you have the proper citizenship of course)

I think you need to inform yourself better, friend. You haven't a clue what you're talking about. Do you know why Calin Georgescu (your so called "wrong candidate") was removed? He broke many laws and literally lied about his campain finances. That's illegal in Canada as well, last I checked.

If this site turns off the lights on a permanent basis, there will be serious “ withdrawal symptoms “ from many of the AV lifers who are drifting towards ADHD.

It's a fair point. One couldn't entertain such thought without thinking of the factors that would affect your every day life by flying for a European carrier. Life is not just about flying, at least for most of us. I want to move to fly in Europe, because I want to live in Europe, not because I have some sort of "career ambition". I'd be happy flying an ATR72-600 at TAROM for the rest of my career. The "metal' I fly is irrelevant.

Judging by the election results - the people of Romania don't share your viewpoint.
So far all there is against Georgescu are allegations - same as what they are doing to Marine Le Pen and the AFD.
