Jobs without an ATPL or IATRA

Post by Stander »

Good afternoon Avcanada members.

Aside from Jump Piloting and Instructing, are there any jobs available to pilots with just a Canadian Commercial Pilot's license?
Any specific fields or places to look would be very much be helpful in my search.
Cheers

Pretty much every 703 operation, and FO positions at some 704 ops.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Think like a King Air operation or a Pilatus or a Navajo Commuter gig.

To be clear, flight operation within 704 ops as a FO positions DO NOT require the need for the IATRA or ATPL?
These may include Air Ambulance as well?
Just wondering why some seem to ask for it, if not needed?

Only aircraft that are Two Crew aircraft as defined by the CARS need an IATRA or ATPL as an FO. Planes such as the Dash 8, ATR etc. Most 704 types only require a CPL as an FO, 1900, Twin Otter etc. 1900s and Twin Otters technically don’t even need an ATPL for a captain position, though that’s quite rare to see in my experience.

Most companies will list those exams or requirements to “weed out” applicants, or because customer contracts require higher experience in the seat.
