Hey everyone,
very quick question:
I know for the PPL 40 hours ground school and the CPL 80 hours ground school the Harv's Air ground school is acceptable.
Is it the same for the 25 hours instructor ground school? The letter is signed by Adam Penner, Class 1 instructor.

(a) An applicant shall have completed a minimum of 25 hours of Instructor Rating ground school instruction which shall include:
(i) practical application of the basic principles of learning and techniques of instruction;
(ii) preparation and use of lesson plans;
(iii) procedures for planning and presenting preparatory ground instruction, pre-flight briefings, in-flight instruction, and post-flight debriefings;
(iv) theory of flight required to teach the air exercises;
(v) aircraft flight manuals and aircraft operating limits;
(vi) presentation of pilot decision-making concepts; and
(vii) the use of the Transport Canada Flight Instructor Guide, Flight Training Manual, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Part IV and the appropriate Flight Test schedules and guides.
(amended 2012/02/19)
(b) An applicant shall obtain a minimum of 70% in the written examination Flight Instructor Rating - Aeroplane Class 4 (AIRAF).
If you can prove that Harvs provided all the requirements listed in under (a) and pass (b) then your good to go. However most Class 1 instructors will want to provide some ground instruction and will want you to demonstrate many ground briefings which should be part of the 25 hours in (a).
Personally I found bumbling my way through ground briefings and having my Class 1 make recommendations worthwhile, however 25 hours was excessive.

Re: Harvs air instructor ground school is acceptable?
The flight instructor ground school course is different then the PPL and CPL courses. The "ground school" school time is usually spent by practice teaching with a class I instructor. It's not a passive classroom experience, it's YOU teaching to a live person. This is why we don't give a ground school letter for the online ground school even though it might be legal. I don't think it's practical.
The purpose of our online instructor rating course is to prepare you for teaching PGI, briefings, and in flight instruction by providing video examples of both on ground and in flight instruction. The other purpose is to prepare you for the written examinations for the instructor ratings. From my experience there is no time to prep candidates for the exam since the time is usually spend practice teaching.
This is also why the flight instructor course is less money then the PPL and CPL online courses.
