Can you do your CPL general practice hours on a non commercial aircraft.

Post by flyinggggggggg »

Basically I am starting my CPL with a flying club but I want to do my 25 CPL general practice hours in a privately registered aircraft (CAR Standard 549 - Amateur Built Aircraft) instead of renting one from the flying school. Is that allowed? I can't find where in CARS it specifies if the aircraft needs to be commercially registered. Any insight appreciated!

Yes it's allowed, and beyond that, I think it's a good idea.
