Current Recruiting for FOs and DECs (2025)

Post by captaincro »

Hi Guys,

Has anyone applied with PAL recently ? I got the feeling that everything takes forever, recruitment wise, with them.

Anyone has some feedback?

Cheers,

H

If you know someone it’s a short wait. That’s the case with any occupation.
I’ve heard they’ve hired with less than 500 total time but bypassed much higher time applicants.

I think most if not all positions at all bases are fully staffed? A few guys got hired for YHZ DEC a few months ago, and a few FO's have come but they are all from Air Borealis or the MFC program I think.

Nobody is leaving lately so not much hiring going on... latest seniority list only shows 9 guys hired this year.

What is the reasoning to put low timers without much east coast IFR experience instead of experienced 703 captains with more IFR experience than they have total time as FOs?

That those 703 Captains with years of IFR experience are too stuck in their bush ways. Specially King air Captains.

The PAL Aerospace King Air Captains are “too stuck in their bush ways” to not succeed as Dash 8 FO? How does that make sense.

Use all your experience to figure it out.

Air Borealis and PAL Airlines share an MEC.

Air Borealis pilots have DOH with PAL Airlines for seniority, pay, vacation.

Aerospace does not have that. They start at year 1. Also I don't think any Aerospace skippers want an Airlines FO job anyway.

For MFC guys, a lot are Life in Flight which is EIC's pathway program - guaranteed job if they fulfil their commitments to instruct or whatever else is in their contract. PAL owns MFC, some non Life in Flight guys stick around until they have multi time instructing and come over. Also makes sense since management can just call CFI at MFC and know who's a good guy and who's not over there.

I have heard that there have been a few experienced guys fail their initial. Probably bush King Air drivers that think they're entitled to a 705 job.
