Sault/Confederation College Aviation Grads: Where Are You Now?

Post by Sweet_Potato »

Hello!

I'm really interested in hearing from graduates of Sault College and Confederation College's aviation programs. After you finished school, what was it like getting a job in aviation?

Did you manage to find work with airlines, cargo companies, corporate aviation or any other pilot gigs? Was it tough to get your foot in the door, or did you find a job fairly quick? Or did you switch and working in a totally different field?

Your experiences would be super helpful for students who are just starting out! :)

They're literally at every airline around. There's some disadvantages to the college programs, but the one thing I've noticed: they all seem to get jobs pretty quick. Not pounding the pavement like grads of Uncle Joe's flying school.

What is the washout rate? I heard the first year is pretty high but this is pre covid info

Study hard, work hard. At college, you're fully grown up and admitted to college. You were smart enough to get here. Are you mature enough to get through? Mommy and/or daddy isn't going to nag you about homework, that's all on you and your choices now. Sure that party is more fun, but it doesn't get you a job and get you that income to feed yourself.

Do the work, try hard and you'll be fine. Party, drink, and smoke all the time, then you'll have problems. (The odd party is great fun when you're ahead in school work). It's all about priorities, being smart, mature and making intelligent decisions.
