Not long depending on your motivation. Written (two if I remember, com/IFR) are not bad. You can combine the flight tests,(multi commercial and multi IFR) it makes for a long day. The pre flight oral is what you need to be prepared for, most of the examiners can smell BS from a mile away. Bout 6k US realistically...

Yes do it with PRO IFR they know what they are doing. And it won’t cost 6k, sorry I thought you meant doing it in the US ie getting the commercial requirements there and paying for the single and multi IFR. You do need a US medical if you want the full conversion.
Good luck

It's not too bad, it will cost about $2500. First get your Canadian license verified with the FAA, and get your U.S. private. This is easy and free. It will take about a month for the paperwork. Check out the thread on renting in th U.S.
Find a medical examiner from the FAA website and get your class 2 medical, $75 - $125.
Next, buy the Gleims commercial and instrument exam prep books. Find a U.S. instructor that will sign you off to do the written, most will. Total cost for both books and written exams, $210.
After that find an instructor that won't milk you for dual instruction you don't need. The requirement is 3 hours dual instruction in preparation for a flight test. You will need 6 hours since it is technically 2 rides rolled into one. Total cost for 6 hours dual in a twin $1500.
You will pay about $250 for an examiner and another $300 or so to rent the plane for the flight test.
