PPC

Post by Tholl »

Just studying for my cpl here...

This is what I know:
A PPC is required for the PIC of a multi or single engine aircraft operating at night or in IFR conditions.

This is what I need to know!

Is a PPC for commercial ops only?

Does a Day VFR pilot (single or multi) need a PPC or will a PCC do?

Does a Co-pilot of a single or multi need a PPC if flying night or IFR flight along with the PIC?

Any other info you can provide would be great...Thanks

A PPC or a pcc is for commercial ops only 702, 703, 704 or a 705 operation.

I dont think Wasnt me is completely correct. The 604 private ops certificate also require PPC,s. And while not PPC, some aircraft require a type rating

I stand to be corrected so how 'bout one of the TC guys helping out

The 604 operatione require a different process that can be internal without doing a formal PPC similar but not the same in priviledges and portability.

604 does not exist anymore, it is now CBAA and is 'self regulated' in my experience after we swapped over from 604 (requiring a PPC renwal ride every 2 years on my A/C) we went to a system of training to a standard set by flight safety in our case and never had to do rides again. I don't know how it worked at other operators that did in house training.

It makes a lot more sense for the company to decide if their pilots are up to par, what is a chief pilot for anyhow.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
