Aviation Medical Review Board

Post by Thorjones »

Does anyone have any information/experience on this body within TC's aviation medical department?

How often they meet?

When do they meet?

What's the turn around time from reviewing a file to solution for the file?

It's very frustrating trying to get any information from TC as usual.

Holy crap, that’s brutal. I’m not doubting the accuracy of your statement, but how did you find out those timelines? Because that’s way more information than any of us here have been able to get out of anyone at civil aviation medicine/RAMO/AMRB.

You have been waiting 1 year and 4 months? Or is that the average wait time?

I tried calling TC to ask and no one knows anything. This board is like some secret society.

TC won't give you the information. You have to file ATIP requests so they are forced to answer.

I was chatting with my CAME about a year ago. At that time, I was told to expect 2 years.
It's feels like TC is trying to kill off aviation with a death by 1000 cuts.

Part of me actually believes this is true and there is a liberal conspiracy to harm aviation for environmentalist reasons. Hanlon's Razor suggests it's incompetence though and not intentional. Carney has said publicly that he believes air travel is a big problem for the environment but there have been times when the government could have really hurt airlines and didn't. Like simply allowing airline employees to exercise their collective bargaining rights for example.

TC handles more than just aviation, employee hopping and poor management are likely the biggest issues, not some 2030 WEF conspiracy

First post on here, looking for some guidance and/or advice.
I’m a new pilot in Canada with about 400 hours now since I got my first job. I had an issue where I lost my vision in one eye for a few weeks (CRVO). My vision has recovered to 20/35 in the bad eye and my vision is 20/20 in my other. I’ve been going back and forth with TC and their doctors for almost 2 years. They’ve sent my results to the aviation medical review board over a year ago for a response to whether I’ll get my medical back. So yeah, I’m considering getting a lawyer to try and speed up the process and hopefully get cleared to fly again but also don’t want to piss off anyone making these decisions and negatively affecting their answer. Has anyone heard of similar situations?
Any help is much appreciated, Thanks

These conspiracies make me laugh when you realize they sent everyone back to the office for work, at the cost of employee satisfaction and billions in real estate leases.
