Saunders Aircraft ST-27 in Gimli
Good Morning - Back in the 2000's Istarted on the trail on the Saunders Aircraft story that built the Saunders ST-27 commuter aircraft in Gimli. Over the years I've collected Saunders information and plan a series of videos on the history of Saunders Aircraft. The Saunders Story introduction video Episode 1 is now on You tube and Episode 2 will be out on You tube on Nov. 1, the links will be posted on this group. cheers !

Re: Saunders Aircraft ST-27 in Gimli
kenair this is great stuff.
The ST-27 was a big influence in my early years. In the early 80's (80 or 81), during a family road trip out west, my dad somehow managed to get us into an open door in one of the Gimli hangars where there were various jigs and parts in what felt like a massive production plant. I seem to recall there was an ST-27 in there (Swift Aire?) and I remember the ST-28 out yonder...
Lots of memories.
I suggest posting on the AEF as there are several former ST-27 drivers over there.

Labrador Airways had one of those things early to mid ‘80s running from Goose to St Anthony and St John's, remember seeing it around. They had a few incidents with it, gear collapse, lots of electrical issues if I remember correctly. I knew couple of Captains on it at the time, they dreaded it as I understood.

I remember seeing them with Air Atonabee or as some called it...Air Ought Not To Be.
Re: Saunders Aircraft ST-27 in Gimli
Air Atonabee turned into City Express, which had a bunch of them (9).

That was a great video. I am looking forward to the next one.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself
