Winter Gear - Gloves, etc

Post by Information_Papa »

I picked up a set of gloves from Grainger the other day. They are fantastic.
Rated for -25°C. They're $40. I'm ordering another pair that has a set of gauntlets on them for $60.

They might not be sexy, but if you work in Nunavut. And you offload cargo. This would be ideal. They have another option rated for -35°C, and its a mitt style. Which I'm going to order for when I go snowboarding in February.

They will also be at Linestar.

Anyways. I recommend them. I would rate them 5/5.

All that rubber/plastic is going to be thermal mass robbing heat from your hands.

Its got thinsulate on the inside, plus an actual rating on the gloves. Most companies sell you "warmth level 5". But never say what temperature. I was outside for hours today shoveling my driveway and the back alley. Hands were fine.

I also worked 8 hours plus outside in every weather condition for almost 15 years before I flew. I'm telling you, these are good and better than the gloves they're trying to sell you at Marks, Mountain Warehouse, Walmart, Sportchek or snowboarding stores.

But if they're not for you. No worries.

Did you create a new account just to start trying to sell gloves?

Nah. It's a winter gear thread. Post what works for you. Perhaps other guys can get an idea. Pretty straight forward.

Do you have a financial interest in the sale of these gloves?

We always used Watson Winter Gloves at work, they make a wide variety of winter gloves that fit almost any need.
I admit that it doesn’t get to -40c on the Vancouver waterfront but -15c with a 20 knot wind off the harbour 150 feet off the deck can get cool.

No but I'll take your money anyway.

I bought red baron work gloves solely based on the brand name and because it had an airplane in the logo.

Surprisingly comfy and warm

I usually only apend a couple of hours outdoors at a time in winter. They work well for that.

You can get Superior gloves from here too: https://www.hansler.com/collections/gloves-1

I bought the ones rated for -30 a few weeks ago and they are nice: https://www.hansler.com/collections/glo ... -378gobdtk

Paid $25 each on sale. Real leather, thinsulate and a proper cuff to go inside your jacket sleeve.
