Nope there was ZERO layoffs this year. The company and the Union worked together to avoid any layoffs. Unfortunately there was two Captain Downgrades

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
Ah I see, I don't know why I thought there were, but that's good to hear. Any idea then on how many FOs are being hired? I'm venturing a guess this is hiring due to attrition, doesn't seem like there's any deliveries forecast next year according to pilot career center notesHenry_Hill wrote: ↑Thu Dec 25, 2025 2:32 pmNope there was ZERO layoffs this year. Hi TbayLX,
I would like to know if the hiring pool expires one year after being placed in it?
Thank you.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
They're not going to hire anyone. They spent all of 2025 threatening to layoff 15-20 pilots and also threatening 20 Captain downgrades. Then they fired a bunch of pilots in order not to affect the 20 South African pilots they hired 2 years ago. These 20 South African pilots are working on a 2 year work visa. So, they are all need to have their visas renewed in the first 3 months of 2026... Hence the post. It's just so they can show the TFWP/Immigration office that they "can't find suitable Canadian candidates" and these SA pilots will get their visas renewed.
I stand to be corrected, but I think it's just a big scam to screw Canadian pilots out of a job, while protecting the South African pilots they brought in.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
The SA pilots have VISAs until the end of 2026 so your theory isn't accurate. They also carried extra pilots for a long time and he lack of layoffs was due to good work on the reduced block program.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
I’ll put a 100$ down that the SAs VISAs get renewed in any month in 2026 , while Canadian pilots somehow get effed.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
why would they post the job ad for FOs if they are not hiring anyone anytime soon?
Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
If they are applying for temporary foreign workers or renewal, they have to show that “qualified” Canadians are not applying.Instructor01 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 12:20 pm why would they post the job ad for FOs if they are not hiring anyone anytime soon?
Typically anything government takes time so they could just be doing this now to get ahead of the deadline for the expiration of their current foreign workers.

We'll be hiring somewhere between 10-16 First Officers in March to account for increased utilization of aircraft in the spring/summer and attrition. Interviews will begin in January.
If you've been in the pool more than a year you can expect to be contacted to see if you're still interested and interview again.

If by questionnaire you mean the online compass profile assessment, then yes.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
Interviews are done for the March course now. We'll be going through the interview results and selecting candidates for the March course in the next couple of weeks. Offers should go out by the end of the month for March 23rd start.
