Hello
Reviewing the Pilot Career Guide, 4000 hours is the minimum for a DEC. Is that a hard number? Not many people with 4000 hours in the corporate world looking to get on a CJ2/CJ3, and not flying heavy metal already.
Are there opportunities with lower hours but relevant corporate PIC experience on a larger aircraft than a CJ?

Yes, AirSprint does have performance agreements (Bond). We require performance agreements on first time initial type ratings, but DO NOT require any additional agreements for recurrent training, or transitioning back to an aircraft you already crewed at one point.
Do I love the idea of Performance Agreements? No. However, the cost of training for our fleet is very high and in excess of any performance agreement amount. Protecting some of the investment in our crew members helps ensure we can better invest in our pilot group and the flight department as a whole. That is something I can stand behind.
The CJ2+ and CJ3+ performance agreement is $36,000, the Embraer Legacy/Praetor fleet is $45,000. The term is 2 years (730 days), pro-rated. Nothing out of pocket, and the amount starts ticking down from your date of hire.

Why do Air Sprint pilots quit? Why is a large financial penalty needed for pilot retention?
Such large bonds scare away potential recruits. It makes me wonder what's being hidden. Why do so many pilots want to quit after a short employment, that a company needs to financially penalize them?

My understanding is that Air Sprint is not a particularly cushy job, in that it may not have all the benefits of some of the major airlines. That being said, even if it did, a lot of pilots would give two weeks notice and leave them high and dry, in order to get that seniority number. The bond policy controls that to a certain extent. The people who get really angry about it probably don't like their ability to abuse being taken away. Time has proven over and over that a significant amount of pilots will simply use a company to briefly get jet time to go somewhere else. On the other hand, many of those same pilots would likely support such a policy if it was their investment on the line as a co-owner.

So uno reverse out of pure curiosity, I’m typed on the C25A/B. Is there a financial incentive for typed pilots to choose sprint?

I see on various pilot forums that Air Sprint has ads for both Capt and FO's running all year. Questions: How long is the interview process? How often do you run new hire classes. How many are in a normal class size. When do you expect to run your first class for 2026?

We've hired as low as 3000 hours for direct entry CJ Captain positions in the past for candidates with the right experience. Feel free to reach out directly if you would like to know how your experience stacks up with our experience requirements.

We have in the past but it is quite rare we do so, right now our focus is on First Officers with around the 2000 hour experience mark.

To be fair to current pilots on property, we do not negotiate wages or benefits. It may be possible to reduce the length or amount of the performance agreement depending currency on type and past experience. Feel free to reach out directly if you would like discuss that further.

As we are steadily growing there is a constant need for new pilots to join our team. We recently added two additional CJ3+ aircraft late in 2025, and more aircraft are planned for this year.
The interview process varies, it starts with an initial short interview with our recruiter Steffany. From there we can move into the formal interview, background and reference checks, and if successful, an offer. Sometimes this process can happen quite quickly, within a week or two. Other times it may take a bit longer depending on availability of interviewers, ability to reach references, etc.
Generally speaking, we run one new hire class per month, class sizes vary depending on needs from 1 to as large as 10. Our first class this year starts January 10th, followed by another on January 31st.

I've reviewed the Pilot Career guide but wondering how many actual flying days per block approx. can an FO & a Capt expect based out of YUL, say on a 16/12 schedule? Are most reserve days call-outs? Are single day & two day pairings common for the YUL base? Is a year realistic wait for an upgrade for someone coming in with 2500 TT. How family friendly is AS, for someone with a young family, this is fairly important to me...
Also, when does the current work agreement expire? Appeared pretty good when this was given after covid but things have evolved in the industry...
Any information is appreciated.

For pilots on the PBS (preferential bidding system), the days on requirements are between 6-8 consecutive days. You can go longer than that, but that is the standard and the system won't assign anything beyond that unless you specifically ask it to. For an 8 day "block" you could usually expect to fly 5-7 of those days, but could be all 8 or could be none and everything in between, the schedule is determined by the needs of our owners and there are busier times and quieter times. Most of our flying is scheduled the day before but callouts can happen. One or two day trips can happen as well but I wouldn't say they are common.
For upgrades, for someone with 2500 hours yes 1 year is realistic depending on past experience and ability, however this can always change and there are no guarantees as we saw with Covid.
I'm not sure I can answer the family friendly question as that looks different to everyone, but there is a good percentage of pilots here with families. Compared to airlines we tend to be away for longer stretches of time, but we're also home for longer stretches of time. if you have more specific details on what you are looking for in a company that would make it family friendly for you I would be happy to answer them.
As we are not a union company we don't have an agreement, however we do complete salary and benefits updates on a regular basis, in the past this has usually occurred every 3-4 years, and we are working on an update currently. The Leadership team has recently committed to a 3 year timeframe going forward to review pilot salaries and benefits as well. At this time I'm not able to share more than that but I'm sure if/when changes occur they will be posted here.

We're currently hiring for all bases however preference is currently being given to pilots from the YYZ/YUL area. YHZ is our only Atlantic Canada base and I believe we do have open positions there.

Hey are you hiring FOs on the CJ and EMB fleet and are their ground schools scheduled each month throughout the winter/spring? How do you determine which applicants are put on the CJ aircraft vs the EMB?
