It is solely motivated by "we don't want to end up in the news if this goes wrong, so let's err on the side of caution". The RAMEs have been trigger happy lately and surprising both pilots and their CAMEs with additional tests when they visit their CAME for a renewal. We all know that doing your medical with 30 days of expiry is the most practical so adding request like stress tests (example only) essentially grounds you thanks to our health care system. Your CAME doesn't know why and your medical isn't revoked/suspended until the end of the month.
The health care system doesn't need a healthy person tying up resources. I am aware there are private options depending where you live albeit often pricy.
Unions two crew on day 31and airline associations are seeing this with their members/staff for pilots with existing conditions that were already dealt with/accepted in the past.
Can TC explain why you can fly single pilot for the next 30 days but can't fly two crew on day 31? If the RAME feels you need additional testing then that's fine but why ground a pilot that's safe today based on calendar date only. Add the restrictions and 90 day timeline to get the testing completed.
Some of these pilots were at heir CAME's less than 6 months ago.
That's why no one trusts high level TC medical.

Yep, I heard it from an ALPA Canada email, basically talks about this disclosure or waiver we have to sign at our next medical. This seems weird to me, I've watched my CAME log into the same medlink portal that all doctors in Alberta have access to. They can already see every single piece of medical history on my file from the day medical records became digital. I asked him if he had access to it all and he said yes but he only looks if he has a reason to (like if he can clearly see that I've been lying about something). What has changed?

New Brunswick is digital. I have online access to all of my imaging results, lab results, medications prescribed, health facility visits and immunization records. I think you are misunderstanding what this disclosure entails. What you're describing is normal and not in question. Your CAME can see your medical file like any other doctor. This form is allowing TC access to that information without going through your CAME. They want to bypass your doctor and be able to access your medical file directly, whether it's under their list of reportable conditions or not. This is giving some clerk at TC the ability to look through your medical records without even consulting a medical professional.
Let's say you saw a specialist for something that doesn't otherwise affect your medical fitness, your CAME would not need to report that to TC and they wouldn't know about it. Because your CAME, as a civil aviation medical examiner, is qualified to make that determination. But now TC is able to go and see that you saw that specialist, without consulting with your CAME. It's none of their fucking business and a clear violation of doctor-patient confidentiality. They are essentially saying they don't trust you or your CAME and they want you to sign away your Charter rights.

A few years ago in Ontario I went through a moderate amount of paperwork to have LifeLabs stop sharing all my medical information with every doctor in the country. It didn't make any sense to me that I could go to some social gathering and meet a doctor and later that evening they could go online and see all my bloodwork. Simply because they're a doctor? It shouldn't be something that I have to opt-out of. I should be able to say who they send my data to individually by default.
