Work In The Caribbean

Post by shower of sparks »

I was wondering if anyone has info on companies that hire canadian pilots in the caribbean. And would they hire low time 250hr pilots with cpl/multi/ifr?

thanks

There are companies that have hired low time canadians in the past, but they are few and far between. with a few hundred hours of PIC time in something like a 182 or 206, you would have a much better chance. However, it's not easy. Check out pprune.com caribbean section. best thing to do is make some phone calls. a lot easier if you have a connection someplace. Tropic Air in Belize might be a place to start looking. some canadians have worked there in the past.

You could try Winair. They only need a Cpl/Multi/IFR a PPC on the Twotter.

TO: to Low and slow, turbofan, MRO, cyyz.

I think you guys are being assholes. Shower of sparks asked a simple if slightly naive question. Since he/she only has 250 hrs, the naive part is not really surprising. So you guys had choice. You could have provided some usefull advice like Wally Pilot or I am Birddog, or you could just gratuitusly piss all over him with smart ass comments.

I hope you guys bring a better attitude to your own flying job because if you worked for me you would be getting a big time attitude adjustment:(

question was a bit naive, but hey considering the fact 'we were all there before' I dont blame you....I STILL would love to work a winter season or two downthere....

Winair - 500hr MIFR + PPC (PCC)

Winward express - same as above but Islander Checkout

Skyking (Turks & Cos') -CPL/MIFR + B1900 PCC/PPC which you must have prior or put down 6,000USD

Tropic Air - 750hr + CPL/IFR plus if going for C-208 (PPC/PCC)....although people with bare CPL/IFR went in there

Carribean Aviation (antigua) - CPL/MIFR ...never got any response from them officially.

French owned islands -forget it - must be EU national with JAR licence

Air St. Thomas and other US islands - you need FAA if I am correct

Barbados operators are usally 500 MIFR + DHC-6 PPC/PCC ...times will flactuate depending on your previous experience on their a/c

....I don't know others, but if you know, let me know

good luck!
