Tumbler Ridge

Post by MX-5 »

Very touching vigil last night attended by party leaders in solidarity. So great to see the media step back unlike some other countries, and the leaders travel together.

Curious about the logistics...CBX7 is only 3900ft and the news clip I saw showed RCAF 002 taxiing, presumably in YOW. anyone have an insight into the logistics?

Stay safe, everyone.

I don't know, but I would guess they landed at Fort St. John (6900 ft, 2 hours away) and took a bus from there.

If that isn't long enough, the next closest airport with a (really) long runway is Prince George - 4.5 hours away.

Dawson Creek is pretty close as well. I've been in there with a 1900, and 200 no problem, 5000' is enough for a lot of smaller bizjets, Dashes etc.

I remember Tumbler being a fairly complicated airport if the Wx was IFR. Back in the old days ;) the departure was "not assessed" so you had to depart spec vis/ vfr, or climb the approach backwards till you reached MEA, or if you had local knowledge then you did what you did. Pretty sure now it has a published departure. It's suitable for King Airs, (and 1900's if you don't concern yourself with net takeoff flight path or balanced field).

I remember it being a nice little community. We did the hike down to the river to check out the dino fossils on one trip. Pretty sad situation.

Canforce 01 flew into Dawson Creek. They must have used the challenger instead of the Airbus. It's on flight radar 24.
