Re: New hire bids
I can’t recall anyone going to Porter in a very long time. Those that wanted to leave have left.

Ya no need to get a E1 rating to come to porter anymore. Thing of the past.

Re: New hire bids
Does Jazz still advertise DEC hiring or was that a temp thing?
Re: New hire bids
I can’t speak to whether or not they advertise but essentially if you have the qualifications and figure you’re ok to risk it, DEC is likely available in every class.flying4dollars wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 8:15 pm Does Jazz still advertise DEC hiring or was that a temp thing?
The reason I say risk it, the union advises that if you are not successful, the contract states you can be trained in to your previous position which was non existent, essentially no protection from dismissal.
They recommend you do the right seat and bid in to the left seat right after, I’ve seen new hires back two months after their initial training for upgrade.

Re: New hire bids
Ahh. Wouldn't it benefit the company to offer them employment as an FO and train them accordingly should they become unsuccessful in their DEC training? Unless there are no FO positions then I could understand releasing them. Also maybe counting the failure to qualify against the 2 attempt rule (should that exist).cdnavater wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:23 pmI can’t speak to whether or not they advertise but essentially if you have the qualifications and figure you’re ok to risk it, DEC is likely available in every class.flying4dollars wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 8:15 pm Does Jazz still advertise DEC hiring or was that a temp thing?

Hi,
Same question, anybody knows the proposed bases and planes for Gs in July/August?

Re: New hire bids
So how many in September ground school? Only 4 NH spots on the RJ for September….target was 25 per month going forward….how many were actually hired? We’re losing more than we hire lately…unsustainable.
Re: New hire bids
I still see CHR eventually selling Jazz to either AC or EIC. A sale to AC would give them virtually a blank cheque as the CPA would cease to exist (although the CBA would technically still be in effect - sale of a business/change of control. That would make for interesting litigation).
A sale to EIC would likely include a CPA renegotiation. AC already has a commercial relationship with EIC via PAL. Similar sale of business/change of control issues.
Jazz has had several years to figure out staffing and it would appear that it remains a challenge.

Re: New hire bids
Maybe HR took the summer off. There’s more qualified pilots out there than spots available.
Re: New hire bids
Probably trying to staff the Q400 since all the focus seems to be on the YTZ operation, hence the YTZ mini base with 10 Capt and 10 FO spots. The dwindling E175 and CRJ rosters can be covered by 220 flying more easily.
