The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Operational Response - Air Operations, is seeking for a qualified First Officer headquartered in La Ronge.

Air Operations provides aerial firefighting support to the public of Saskatchewan in compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing service to the public of Saskatchewan and participate as a team member in delivering the highest level of service in an environment that stresses safety, security, and comfort.

As a First Officer, you will report to the Chief Pilot and will be responsible for duties relevant to the organization as assigned, including assisting the aircraft Captain and participating in the safe and efficient management and operation of aircraft on assigned flights in accordance with the Canadian Air Regulations, the Aircraft Flight Manual, the Company Operations Manual, and applicable Standard Operating Procedures. This position is subject to seasonal recall on a modified work schedule.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and endorsed for Multi-Engine Aeroplanes and seaplane rating (for the Canadair CL-215T aircraft);
- Valid and current Group 1 Instrument Rating;
- 2500 Hours Pilot in Command (PIC) (of which 250 hours multi-engine PIC, 100 hours PIC IFR);
- Previous experience in the field of wildfire suppression and management, remote geographical locations, or low-level aerial work would be preferred;
- Valid Class I Medical Certificate as outlined by Transport Canada;
- Ability to pass an annual Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC), Line Indoctrinate, and Line Checks on the assigned aircraft, as well as successful completion of all required training as outlined by Transport Canada, Air Operation’s Training Program, and company guidelines; and
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license or equivalent.

You will have the Required Knowledge of:
- Canadian Air Regulations (CARs) relating to 702 (Aerial Work) and 703 (Air Taxi) operations;
- Handling and Transportation of Dangerous Goods;
- Aircraft surface contamination;
- Cockpit Resource Management;
- Wilderness survival and first aid;
- Familiarity with Wild Land Fire Suppression methods and strategies;
- Familiarity with Fire Weather, fuel types and how they affect fire behaviour;
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office software; and
- All other training requirements as set out in the Company’s Training Programs Manual.

You will have the demonstrate the ability:
- To independently identify work requirements and safety margins;
- To communicate effectively, in person and over the radio with a diverse workforce;
- To work and live with your fellow employees in remote settings for prolonged periods of time and maintain good group relations; and
- To work in a multi-cultural environment.

You will be:
- Attentive to detail, adaptable, accountable, and reliable;
- Possess excellent interpersonal and public relations skills;
- Respectful, supportive, and resourceful in order to work with a diverse workforce; and
- Be prepared to travel extensively throughout northern Saskatchewan, across Canada or internationally during the fire season and beyond and remain away from home for extended periods of time.
