The School of Transportation has been part of SAIT since its inception in 1916, with the original discipline of Motor Mechanics. Now,100 years later, we provide hands-on, practical education for automotive, aviation, heavy equipment and rail careers. Our state-of-the-art facilities include the Clayton Carroll Automotive Centre, the Art Smith Aero Centre, the Centre for Rail Training and Technology, and the RV Excellence Centre. Our passionate team is committed to providing learners with a high-quality education and in-demand skills.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Aero Programs, we are currently recruiting an Aviation Programs Instructor to share their knowledge to equip the next generation and provide exceptional service to students and clients. If you are a positive and highly motivated Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a Transport Canada AME-M, license or an experienced Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician we are looking for you.
How you'll contribute:
Instruct high level technology courses to mature learners both online and face to face.
Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum.
Develop content to support online learning if theory courses.
Participate in curriculum and program reviews
Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
Evaluate student progress and achievement
Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
Continuously develop professionally: by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment.
Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
What you bring:
Transport Canada AME-M, license or experience working as an Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician.
Minimum Post-Secondary Education: Two-year Aircraft Maintenance Technology diploma or Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician Certificate
Communication skills; including written, spoken and presentation skills.
An innovative mindset and the desire to make long term lasting improvements.
Ability to take a firm stand on important issues yet is empathetic to the needs of learners and the work team.
Previous teaching experience is an asset but not required.
Intermediate computer skills with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, industry related software and the ability to use a variety of multimedia elements to create presentations.
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member.
A customer service focus and strong relationship building skills.
