If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.

Not exactly, you have defined what you are willing to accept, you may feel you are worth more and may even try to get more when able to negotiate or vote.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:21 pm If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.
It’s the company that defines what they feel you are worth, those companies who value you less will have a higher turnover when times are good, benefit from lower costs when times are bad.

Sounds like the "if you don't like it, there's the door" mentality prevalent in this industry. I prefer to say "I like it here, but we are worth more". Changing things from the inside is always a more positive outcome.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:21 pm If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.

Boomers like you were were brainwashed by the system making you think you were getting paid what you were worth. Anything to fly that shiny new jet, ey?goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:21 pm If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.

Until you want to quit 4 months later and the poor company needs its return on investment for the typerating, right?goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:21 pm If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Don’t sign a bond then.digits_ wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 10:23 amUntil you want to quit 4 months later and the poor company needs its return on investment for the typerating, right?goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:21 pm If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.![]()
You know… if people stop signing bonds, and stop accepting low wages, they go away.
