If you accepted a job at a given pay scale, then you have already defined 'what you are worth'.

Not exactly, you have defined what you are willing to accept, you may feel you are worth more and may even try to get more when able to negotiate or vote.
It’s the company that defines what they feel you are worth, those companies who value you less will have a higher turnover when times are good, benefit from lower costs when times are bad.

Sounds like the "if you don't like it, there's the door" mentality prevalent in this industry. I prefer to say "I like it here, but we are worth more". Changing things from the inside is always a more positive outcome.

Don’t sign a bond then.

You know… if people stop signing bonds, and stop accepting low wages, they go away.
