Corporate FO Canada

Post by MedevacFO »

Hello,

I'm looking for input on companies like AirSprint, Skyservice, Chartright, etc.

Currently flying MedeVac and looking for something more structured, not to the Airline Level.

What is corporate flying like? on call, schedule, hours a year, layovers, destinations, etc.

Thank you very much

Most corporate management companies are pretty similar, and the quality of life of the pilots really depends on the owner of the airplane they end up flying. Some are great, some are jerks. Some fly all the time, some hardly ever fly. Some have schedules set in stone months in advance, and some change destinations mid-flight. Some insist on only two pilots and some are open to 3 or 4 crew, which makes it much easier to have a life outside flying. Most owners are decent, and honestly corporate flying is a fantastic lifestyle with the right owners. Captains on light jets will make 170k or so, on Challengers around 200k and on Globals 250k - 275k. The average corporate pilot flies just over 200 hours a year, but can still be away from home a fair amount if the owner goes somewhere for a lengthy period of time but wants the flight crew to stick around in case the owner schedule changes. Equipment is usually pretty good, and maintenance is usually pretty great because most of the planes are someone's baby. I've flown jets where the owner didn't want us wearing outside shoes in the cabin.

Destinations are usually where rich people go, depending on the range of the aircraft you fly. Light jets will usually stick to North America with maybe the occasional Bahamas or Mexico run, while larger aircraft can go all over the planet. Rich people like to go to warm places during Winter, and some also attend major sports events etc. In Corporate you'll probably be flying on Christmas Eve, but it's a small price to pay for the overall lifestyle the job affords. You can earn enough to live indoors, and also go on rich people's vacations, which can be pretty great. Oh, if you are based in Toronto you will likely do lots of Montreal and lots of Teterboro no matter the type of aircraft you fly heh.

On a similar note, AirSprint does fractional ownership which is a slightly different model and they have a huge thread here, where AS management and company reps seem pretty diligent in answering questions about their operation. viewtopic.php?t=118194

Thank you for your reply.

I keep hearing that you are the owner's "mercy" in a way. You either hate it or you love it.

Would you say the only way to know is by jumping in and hope for the best?

I read the whole thread on AirSprint, I was wondering if anyone in here works for them.

Cheers
