Some of you here are straight up just so disappointing. If you actually read the entire ruling you'd see his intent could not have been clearer. Took him multiple hours to respond and even then, he never once checked in regarding the status of his "order"? Like come the hell on lol... what part of that screams “legitimate order”?

If you read the whole thing and still see nothing wrong then... I'm honestly ashamed to be sharing airspace with such filth. Like what terrible things have happened in altiplano's or Me262's life that they feel comfortable displaying such bigotry. Blows my mind.

You will get haters in your life. People will try to get you fired for the sole reason of being jealous you're more successful. They'll report you to Transport Canada, they'll report you to your employer, they'll write you up, they'll play the racism card. I've had all happen to me. I love it because it means you're doing so well they can't stand it. They toss and turn in bed at night thinking about you and it eats them up inside.

I think it's pretty obvious, the guy f.... up.

For me the debate is whether the punishment was over the top or not.

That was also covered in the ruling. The person involved showed no contrition. If they had shown legitimate remorse and/or taken responsibility for their behaviour that night, they'd still have a job.

Is it an unpleasant outcome? Yes. Could it have been avoided? Also yes.

I'm sure there was more to this story and a possible history with this guy. This was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. Just a guess.

The problem if you keep insisting this was a normal food order, is that you're forcing an all or nothing scenario. Either it gets ruled it was a genuine order, and all is forgotten. Or it gets ruled it was not a real order, in which case there's no opportunity anymore to rectify the situation.

If you don't admit your mistake, it means you don't acknowledge it, and you can't change how you will act in the future. Which forces the hand of the employer a bit for a severe punishment.

Or to word it differently: you can't claim it won't happen again in the future if you refuse to acknowledge it happened in the past. It's why admitting your mistakes is so important. It's the first step towards personal growth/improvement.

No doubt. Taking it further this guy's chances for employment at another airline here in Canada is probably very slim to none.

That's why there needs to be more evidence. To end someone's career you need be 100% sure not just pretty sure. In a criminal case he never would be found guilty. I wonder if he's going to sue Sunwing.

Exactly. If they are suffering, they want you to suffer as some sort of way to make them feel a bit better.

We saw it during covid. People, like me, who did the vaccine tourist thing were demonized. There was zero common sense thinking such as....Gee, that is a good thing as the line-up is a tiny bit shorter and quicker. Meanwhile, I was seriously concerned about longhaul effects based on my age and our incompetent government that I railed about for years screwed up the rollout with delays and prioritizing certain people(including criminals) to the front of the line. Glad I got the shot as I got covid well before I would have been eligible for the AstraZeneca crap. Meanwhile, my sister got longhaul syndrome(she caught it in the initial wave).

Had a good three week semi ski trip as well(in an excellent snow year) while it was locked down again back here. The state I went to was blue and so interested in giving shots to illegals(instead of prioritizing actual legal residents) that pharmacies were not allowed to ask for ID, so I did it there.

How are you guys such experts on racist jokes anyways? I grew up in farm country didn't even see my first black person IRL until I went to college, and that was only 2 people. I didn't see another black person until maybe 5 years later when a truck driver delivered a load to the remote town I was working in. But I'm supposed to be an expert in racist jokes about them?
The only reason I would even be aware of these jokes was if I associated with racist people that made these jokes. We didn't even think about them at all. Now I'm afraid of what other stereotypes I might accidentally reference without even knowing about it.

Similar here. There was one black kid down the street and he was the only one I knew. Don't remember telling any jokes but I do remember we thought it was so cool to touch his hair and for him to go under water in the pool to see how different it was when coming out of the water(instant dry, which seemed unfair). Little did us 10 year olds know what massive racists we were......... AI Search: "Touching a Black person's hair without consent is widely considered a racial microaggression and a violation of personal boundaries. While the person reaching out might feel harmless curiosity, the act carries historical baggage that can make the individual feel "othered," objectified, or disrespected." Glad I had the chance to touch(actually asked, I think). Interesting feel.

Jesus Christ. You people are genuinely strange. You boys looking for a pat on the back for not being racist? Something that is relatively simple for a normal person to accomplish...

Another good thing to know to not be offensive is that Sikh men and women are allowed to carry knives onboard planes in Canada. They lobbied and were given an exemption to Transport Canada rules in 2017 for religious reasons. They just can't carry them on flights to the U.S..

Ho Hum, another virtue signaller that hires by race(or supports it) and then accuses others of racism.

As for the fired guy……no one orders slices of watermelon for dinner, so he made a foolish joke in an era where anyone with any common sense would know that he is just asking for trouble, especially when management is involved and it is on a text/email.

He wanted to go and choose his own food, the company was in violation of the collective agreement and inflexible on providing options, he made a goofy protest order to make a point. I don't read racism in it. Only the people that are combing everything with the goal to raise a capital case on identity and deploy their virtue do.

Guess it's only burgers and fries for white guys going forward.

And if that was his defense the case would likely have had a different end result.

Sage advice is that “an arbitrator will give me my job back” is not guaranteed. Conduct yourself accordingly.

Only option left is JR and that is a very high bar.

There is absolutely nothing in the CA about choosing your own food. There were plenty of restaurants around the hotel where he could have purchased his fried chicken. It is not crew sched's or management's job to take food orders. Why you keep mentioning that is beyond me, as this was not a real food order.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back when it comes to this guy.

There is this thing called Television. Specifically, American Television. But if you missed that, there are these things called Movies. Specifically, American Movies.

Familiarise yourselves with the Henry Nowak case in the UK - a country that's even more broken than Canada.

As should the Police leadership that implemented these 2 tier anti- white policies.

The Politicians need to be held to account also - being a second class citizen in your own country is not acceptable.

Nigel Farage is 100% correct.

It is sad to see the left slowly destroy western civilization with their policies. I am fortunate in many ways to avoid much of it(including being older and having lived most of my life when it was on the uptrend). Fortunately, I think it is slow enough that the real storm is beyond my lifetime. I intend to enjoy life to the fullest possible.

Looking at just one example in the news today.....
