Lone Star Services Inc. is a regional private aviation provider purpose-built for the Alberta legal community. We eliminate the grueling hours of winter driving and commercial flight delays by flying trial lawyers directly into regional circuit hubs like Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, and Peace River.

We are currently working through the initial Air Operator Certification (AOC) with Transport Canada to launch this high-utility regional court service. We are proudly basing our operations out of Cooking Lake (CEZ3) to offer efficient, accessible regional departures for local legal teams.

The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled, safety-focused individual to serve as our Chief Pilot (CP). This is a Transport Canada-approved "key person" position. You will be responsible for the standards, training, proficiency, and safe flying practices of all flight crew members operating under CARs Part 703.Because we are currently navigating the pre-launch certification phase, this role begins as a part-time contract retainer to support our Transport Canada application before transitioning to a full-time, line-flying Captain position upon final AOC approval.

You will shape our operational safety culture from day one alongside a dedicated First Officer and grow with us for the long haul.

Core Responsibilities

Regulatory Phase (Pre-Launch): Act as the named Chief Pilot on our Transport Canada application. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to finalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a two-crew cockpit environment, pilot training programs, and successfully clear the Transport Canada pre-certification interview and audit.

-Flight Standards & Training (Post-Launch): Develop and supervise company flight training and Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) programs, conduct line checks, and maintain detailed, compliant pilot training records.
-Operational Leadership: Issue directives and flight instructions to crew members, managing CRM (Crew Resource Management) standards and professional safety profiles out of Cooking Lake (CEZ3).
-Line Operations: Perform flight duties as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on regional day-trip routes, adapting flexibly to fluid court docket schedules.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Transport Canada Requirements: Must meet all CARs 703.88 requirements to be approved by Transport Canada as a Chief Pilot.

Flight Time: Valid Canadian ATPL (preferred) or CPL with a current Group 1 Instrument Rating and an impeccable flight safety record.
Airframe Expertise: Strong preference will be given to candidates with significant, proven time on the Piper PA-31 Navajo. Experience with multi-crew environments, regional twin-engine turboprops, or high-performance pistons in northern winter environments is highly valued.
Regional Expertise: Extensive experience with Western Canadian / Northern Alberta winter flight operations, including gravel, short-runway, and uncontrolled airport environments.Proximity: Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Cooking Lake (CEZ3) for the full-time operational phase.
Compensation & Phased StructurePhase 1 (Pre-Launch / Certification): $3,000 CAD per month retainer to serve as staff, consult and familiarize with building out pilot training manuals, and clear the Transport Canada approval process.
Phase 2 (Post-TC Approval): Transition to full-time employment with a target salary range of $95,000 – $120,000 CAD (commensurate with credentials and total flight experience).
