FlightTime Logbook Beta Phase

Post by FlightTimeLogbook »

Hey all,

I've been working on a new digital pilot logbook that I felt filled a gap in some of the current options available. It's now at the point where I'm looking for roughly 5–10 beta testers to help me test it, find bugs, and provide feedback before a public release.

In exchange for actively testing it and helping me iron out any issues, beta testers will receive a lifetime licence to the logbook.

I'm ideally looking for a mix of airline pilots, flight instructors, and student/private pilots, since I'd like to test it across a variety of different use cases.

The logbook currently supports:
-Windows
-macOS
-Cloud syncing across devices
-Discord account linking
-Air Canada PQRM "Logbook" imports
-Porter N-OC "Print" imports
-Jazz CrewTrac screenshots
-Excel/CSV imports
-Imports from exports generated by other digital logbooks

Coming soon:
-Paper logbook photo importing
-iPhone app (currently in development)
-Direct sync integrations with various airlines and flight school software

The community around FlightTime is based on Discord. That's where I'm handling beta testing, feature announcements, suggestions, bug reports, and general discussion.

If you're interested in beta testing, feel free to join the Discord below. I'm mainly looking for people who are willing to actually use the logbook and give me feedback on what works, what doesn't, and what they'd like to see improved.

Your UI screams vibe coded. It is also hard to look at. Suggest you look into a different colour palette that doesn't use black as the primary, and update the UI so it doesn't look like the millions of SaaS slop programs that are flooding every market everywhere. Consumers are going to catch on around the same time the AI bubble pops.

I appreciate the feedback. I did have some support from AI during development but its mostly written by myself and a fellow developer. The colour palette surely isnt everyones cup of tea but we feel it adds a different feel to the 'traditional logbook'. We felt the white text on a darker base, provides a typical 'dark theme' feel majority of users are using now across various applications, I must say though the application itself does have a better contrast between colours due to the gradiented background which did not translate well to the image upload.

A main goal of this logbook is simplicity, ease of use, no excess features and primary information front and center for quick reference from the user. The backend of this application is truly where it shines, taking nearly all of the monotonous work of recording flights out of the equation. Cloud sharing across multiple platforms, and airline integration.

Once again, thank you very much for your feedback and we are going to take it into consideration moving forward.

Cheers,

I wish you both the best of luck! With FF and LogTen being taken over by PE firms and inevitable price increases coming, the market is ripe for a more affordable, Canadian-built solution.

If a beta tester imports an existing logbook from Excel or CSV and then makes changes on both Windows and macOS, how are those edits handled when the devices sync to the cloud?

Once a file is imported to any FlightTime logbook, and that device is connected to the internet, the data is then encrypted and stored in the cloud. Edits made to any flight entry overwrites the old data in the cloud and is pushed to any additional device upon startup. This works across MacOS, Windows and iOS. The iOS app is not released to beta testers yet but it is 95% ready to go. The iOS app is not meant to serve as a replacement to the desktop program but more of an extension to always have your logbook with you.
