Air Fair YVR
Is anybody planning to go to the Air Fair this year. I read that there are going to be a lot of Chief Pilots (around 10-15). It is a good place to put a face to the resume.

The Air Fair is a great event well worth the time. I went to the one in YVR last year and was surprised how many Chief Pilots and Ops Managers were there. I got to talk to several of them.
I understand Kevin Hollands from Westjet will be there this year.
That is one guy I want to talk to!!!

going
Well I think I am going to go...
Sounds like a good chance to meet some CPs. Lots of good companies going to. Anyone know about CMA or Coastal Pacific etc... I am hoping to meet the CPs of smaller outfits.
What do you wear? By the look of it, shirt and tie and standard from the picture on the site.
Anyone eles planning on going?

Wear whatever you feel would be presentable, professional and appropriate for such an occasion. Hint: probably not blue jeans, a Metallica T-shirt, and clapped out sneakers.
Last year's Air Fair had the CP's of CMA and a few other small companies, as well as a rep from PCA (if I remember correctly).

Tom Zeiser is the promoter and one of the founding members of the idea of Air Fare. Tom used to be the #1 salesman for a furnature chain and is the type of guy who can sell refridgeraters to Eskimos. He says "Sell the sizzle, not the steak". I have never been to one but I bet it works well. Meet the CP's in neutral territory. Bet this thing could really catch on.

take er easy
ooohhhhhhhh endless your a cool guy and I respect you but....... take it easy man, I said smaller operators not Westjet or AC... don't get yer panites in a bunch

I attended the recent air fair in YYC a few months back and I'm assuming the YVR one will be the same. I wouldn't worry too much about handing out resumes. Most of the CP's will refuse to take them so they don't have 45 resumes in hand, but a few will. The idea is good, but it can be rather frustrating. There are lots of fellow pilots who are all trying to get any CP's attention and they really don't have a lot of time to devote to a single person.
Good luck to all that go to the YVR one.

I went to the Air Fair in YVR last spring and YYC last fall. Great oppportunity to meet a lot of chief pilots in one spot - saves a lot of time and money travelling around trying to meet them all individually. Work the room, shake a lot of hands, ask a lot of questions. No resume required, just a shirt and tie and a professional attitude. Follow up later if you find something interesting. Good luck!

YVR airfare
Went last year - somewhat of a cluster-you-know-what... I kind of felt sorry for all the company representatives being completely bombarded by 200 hour wonders, but I suppose they're used to it - It's a shame that it costs so much to attend, but hopefully it's the start of what could turn out to be a good thing down the road... If there's any useful advice to give, don't expect to have much one-on-one time with the chief pilots or ops managers - get in early, get the resume handed to them (one that stands out too, not just an average layout), and make them remember you - haha, I suppose attending in your birthday suit would work!!

You will find that CP and Ops Man. are a lot more approachable at this fair. As opposed to walking into there office 16:59 on a Friday long weekend. I don't think getting a job right on the spot is the idea. If you talk to them ask what they look for, is there a proper way to meet with them, or what is there hiring criteria. Yes I understand that you could call them or show up at there office and save yourself the money but I bet you will find them a lot more agreeable at the fair.

Coastal Pacific Pacific Coastal
I hope you were talking about the CP for Pacific Coastal not the CFI of Coastal Pacific. Coastal is a flying school for people with to much money from daddy.
Can someone have an original idea for a name of an Airline example: CENTRAL MOUNTAIN, COASTAL MOUNTAIN, PACIFIC WESTERN, WESTERN PACIFIC, CANADIAN PACIFIC, CANADIAN WESTERN, HAWK AIR, NORTHERN HAWK AIR, Cock Air WTF is so special about a frigging Hawk that it comes down to were that hawk is Northern or up your Cornhole hawk.
Thats just my opinion i could be wrong

Actually I did pay for it all on my own. you see I had a job a making about 40,000 a year when I decided to become a pilot so dont give me that BS Snowking I bet u paid for it by taking it up the hoop from drifters Cubans and your old man. And another thing how do you feel about paying $10,000 for a 747 100 series simulater at Coastal Pacific im sure that comes in handy when you go for that interview for towing gliders!
