Antivirus software - Avast

Post by gelbisch »

Hey all.

I've started using Avast Antivirus since I'm not too thrilled with Norton... and 'cause it's free! It seems to work fine, BUT you have to get a "licence key" by registering, and the key is only accepted into my main user account. (Using Windows XP.) I've gotten three "keys" now, and none of them is accepted by the other two user accounts I have on Windows. One of the accounts is an administrator account, and the other is limited... doesn't work in either.

Does anyone know a way around this, or know of another good freeware anti-virus program?

:?:

Thanks, and happy new year!

I'm using AVG. Seems to work pretty good for me.

Thanks, I'll give it a go!

Now how about a firewall? I've been using ZoneAlarm, which has a similar issue. Every time we boot up one of the other user accounts on Windows, we have to go through the whole introductory welcome spiel, as if we'd just installed the firewall.

Again... suggestions, or another freeware firewall that's trustworthy?

Thanks again!!
