Saskatchewan Government Air Transportation Services

Post by Captain Stinky »

Saw an ad on pilotcareercentre.com for pilots for the Sask. Government. Anybody out there have info on what the working conditions are like there? I would assume they would be pretty good, just wondering about the pay, schedule, morale, type of trips, etc.

Equipment is B200,B350 and Cheyenne II.

it stinks

I talked to a guy there. He seemed pretty happy with it- stable work. SK government does the B200 and Cheyennes Single Pilot IFR, so they like that kind of expereince. I think the also have a BE350 that is 2 crew but you have to bid onto it. I would say the only problem is being based in Regina  Although I think 2 B200s and a Cheyenne are based in Saskatoon (medevac).

I am curious also- is SK government the only ones who do their medevacs SPIFR? Or does anyone else.

Yes they do medevac SP. But the flying out of regina for the gov't has no interaction with the medevac services meaning you can't transfer over.

Saskatchewan has a long and distinguished history of air services. When I was a young pup in 1959, the Sask Air Ambulance was across the street from where I worked. They did air ambulance with Cessna 195's , a Helio Courier and a Beech 18. I have known one pilot who worked for them and he enjoyed it. I was born and raised in Regina and it is in the sticks, a million miles from nowhere but a nice city. For those from Toronto or Vancouver, look at housing prices and drop 150,000 off for a similar house in Regina. 150G's will buy what cost 300G's elsewhere. Good city to raise a young family.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Both the executive stuff and the other stuff in La Ronge is an outstanding opportunity for someone that is beyond fuselage hugging.
