Hey all ... Can any of the Georgian folks answer any of the following questions for me ..
- What is the starting wage for a DEFO 1900D?
- How many guaranteed days off per month?
- Benefits plan?
- Progression in the company right now? Fast/slow?
- Perdiums - how much per day. Is it a per-day benefit or time away from base benefit?
- What are the routes on the Air Alliance side, and cargo side. Is it all over-night cargo ops?
- Unionized?
- Is the company stable and do you enjoy waking up in the morning to go to work?
Sorry for asking so many questions .. but i'd like to know what im getting myself into.
Thankx ..

well,
there will be a bit of movement, fairly soon. We anticipate to lose 4 to 5 guys a month to Ac, and westjet, transat are also, calling to get references on a few guys, so my guess, is around 8 to 10 departure a month, not sure if we have anymore going to Jazz...if so add a few..
Which is more likely to mean promotion, and movement within, if senior guys are leaving..but surely hiring from outside, so get reading for your sim eval, and your interview. hiring have been steady since the summer.
However we may have to bring some of the Van guys on the 1900 since, the blue bird isn't flying much, due to icing restriction.
Good Luck.

As far as GGN goes, I am a current employee, and have had a couple of friends who have and still do work for GGN. In its history, I belive (correct me if I am wrong) GGN has never neglected or missed paying its employees. Bottom line = stability (market pending)
It is a unionized shop (Pilots Association). All of the managers that a line pilot would normally run into from time to time are all descent people and easy to get along with. They have their jobs, responsibilities and stress just like anyone else.
Pilot's get 11 GDO's (Guarenteed Days Off) per month of which you get to choose when two of the eleven are. That being said, you can get "Drafted" to fly on your day off if they are short of crew.
Pilot skeds are based on a bidding process, low end guys usually get the left overs but there is usually no shortage of flying. Pilot skeds usually contain about 65-80 hours of flying (approx) per month.
Per diems are an hourly rate for time away from base.
As far as you guys worrying about movement and upgrades, its nice to plan ahead and dream about those four bars on your shouldger but you wouldn't expect to be a in the left seat of anything within 1-4 years at AC. If you get on anywhere, concentrate on learning the aircraft you're flying and the SOP's and everything else will eventually fall into place. Remember, you're living your dream, savor it! I am.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to pm me.
Cheers!

Question ... How important is an internal reference at GGN? ... If you have good overall experience and qualifications does it matter? Or from your own experience do they prefer a good internal ref?
Anyone been hearing anything from them yet? .. Anyones phone started ringing? ..

2 'must gets' per month?!! I know the AC-contract ship has largely sailed for CMA, but it is amazing how differently that these two essentially identical companies treat their pilots.
At CMA, pilots get 3 'must gets' per YEAR. Shows what a union does for you. Apropos of nothing, of course. Carry on!
