I'm not defending it, I'm just saying how it is.
It is only for a year so maybe you are just "renting" the job!!
Voyageur will take you to the bank for the loan, and you will only have to make interest payments. I know there was one guy that didn't financially qualify, so didn't get the job, even after completing the ground school.

alo.
well if it is like it use to be, you do a left seat ride on the king air, after the ride you'll do a right seat check, they'll do this so that you can go left seat as soon as they need you to.
Pay for F/O is about 26K annually, and Captains are around 50K.
Upgrade time is anywhere from 1 year to a 11/2 years.
cheers

It's $26k/50k for Med bases only (YXL, YTS, YQM)
It's $24k/36k for charter (YYB)
Upgrade time is more like 6 months. It's a solid company, not without it's problems. Ask any of us why we left...schedule. I guess thats the nature of the charter business. The people you work with there are absolutely fantastic.

voyeur air
lets see 24000 divided by 2820 duty hrs per year =a whopping $8.51 per hour. mcdonald's pay min wage which is going up this febuary to 8.00 per hr.
so for a bonus of .51 an hour you to can work like dog and pay 8g's for the privilege.
are you people on crack!!!

Doesn't sound great on paper but having worked there it's not so bad. In fact when times are busy and pilots leaving faster than you can retrain them I made some serious overtime checks. Fast upgrades, good machines and a chance to fly some heavy's... it's a pretty good gig.
My advice would be to stay away from North bay though, ya dont want to be too close to the evil empire...lol
As for the interview, it's very tech - know your IFR rules and regs cold. Voyageurs policy is no breaking mins of any kind, so dont say you would fly over weight or bust mins.duty days, it's by the book.
Good luck, and dress for the part too.
Cheers.

The feet you step on today might be attached to the ass you're kissing tomorrow.

You gotta like that. It would take a little negative pressure off your shoulders.King Air Guy wrote: dont say you would fly over weight or bust mins.duty days, it's by the book.
KAG; congratulations on the new job. You'll do good. I guess I lost my reference at Borek! Take care.

My understanding, told from someone recently hired there, is that you do not have to pay $8,000 to work there. You only owe a portion of that back depending on how early you leave. You owe it all back if you fail the PPC ride. I believe after roughly a year you're free to leave without penalty as BE20 explained.
