Canjet to increase training bond?
Heard from a reliable source today that Canjet increased their admittance fee from a 7000 to a 30000 signed training bond? Can Anyone confirm this? If this is true I thought they were looking for people not tryng to discourage them.

I know its hard to say no if you had the offer but if no one says yes to more bull....then they will have to cancel it....if we could just get everyone to say no....
Hard to believe that in a period of hiring and anti- bonds etc that they are doing this...maybe the bottom line is hurting a bit....alot of new a/c coming online recently?

I was of the impression that the 30K was for direct entry Captains who are getting a 10K signing bonus.
Also heard Captain at CanJet got a small raise and nothing for the FO's.
I can't believe they are surprised that people want to leave. They could have a real good thing there but instead they give the impression that they don't give a crap about their employees.

Not to defend bonds, paying for training, or the like...but in the interests of balanced reporting...
There is no actual figure attached to the bond. 30,000 is a figure someone pulled out of their a$$ because that's what SG had. It is a BOND, it is not a cheque or money paid up front or anything of that kind.
Sheesh...hey nobody let the facts get in the way of a good rant!
btw, the post that started this thread....hmmm...1st post, all innocent-like...methinks birdie is one of the CanJet pilots stirring the pot...

I’m still waiting for my white male privilege membership card. Must have gotten lost in the mail.
Is it a bond? so no money up front? How long is it for? is it prorated? do you have to pay any interest? what happens if Canjet goes the belly up, are you accountable?
Questions I would be asking during the interview...
Bonds arn't so bad (if pilots were good to there word they wouldn't exist), paying for a job is.
Cheers.

Not as bad as it looks
CanJet is actually looking for those training bonds in the form of a signed document in order to hold onto experienced pilots. With the industry in an upswing, an airline with a quick transition time for moving to the left seat must deal with the fact that some of the pilots coming to work for them are simply there to get the left seat upgrade and jet time. This is a completely acceptable way to deal with the high turnover rate as it doesn't really cost anyone anything. It is simply to discourage the high time direct entry guys from making this a brief stop on their CV's. Nobody will lose anything should CanJet fail as it is simply a division of a parent company, IMP Group. IMP Group would be responsible for all monies owed by the airline should they cease operations. I think most could read between the lines to understand that CanJet is here to stay. Maybe the focus of the company will change but there will be a CanJet for many years to come.

Discouraging pilots from leaving is the goal and the current bond size isn't cutting it I guess. Sounds like they are using the high profile IMP inhouse lawyers to hunt down every cent of every bond broken too. If you are brave enough to go to court and loose you will also have to flip the legal bill for canjet. So it doesn't sound to me like a gould idea unless you are prepared to fulfill your contract or pay what is owing on the bond on your way out the door.
