Float operators directory?

Post by Mickey Moose »

Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping to get some valuable information. I'm getting ready to do the drive sometime in March to find my first float job. I would like to find out the addresses of all the operators. Is this listed somewhere in a directory? Also can anyone recommend where they think a new float pilot would have the best luck finding work (other than Wendy's). I'm willing to live anywhere!

Thanks very much in advance

Hey there Brotha,
I'm in the same boat. And it feels like its sinking. Everytime i get one leak sealed another one pops up. Although i wish not the additional competition, I could share a little. I bought an the ABD, Aviation Business Directory. Devided between 2 books, western and eastern Canada. Every legitimate operator is listed, float and otherwise, ph#, emails, key personnel. Best 20 bucks ever spent. Good luck with the all anticipated road trip, get off the beaton track to some of those remote operators and you might have some better luck. Advertise additonal skills like carpentry or longbow skills or ligerdrawing skills.

Oh yeah, you can order these from OP publishing 1-888-478-1183

Thanks everyone for all the info. Very valuable. With the above links and the Aviation Bussiness Directory on its way, this gives me a good bunch of resources to start planning where to go. With so many operators I can't afford the time and money to visit all of them so it will be a case of ruling off those operators that would no way consider a low time pilot, which should shorten the list a tad. If I come across any other useful resources I will post them on this page. As for now as mentioned above I’ll see how things develop over the next month or two. It seems that I should concentrate my search in Manitoba / Ontario. Does anyone know of the job prospects in the Yukon, or is this somewhere I should only consider with more experience? Good luck to all with the job hunting.
