First of all you must have a canadian cpl, ifr multi and you must be legally autorized to work in canada and let me tell you the convalidation is not easy, you must pass all the exams again.
I am a resident permanent (not citizen yet) and working in the convalidation of my licences, if you need information send me a pm.
Good locks, (sorry for my grammar).

hmmmmm lowandslow thats no way to treat a friend of the commonwealth!!!!!!
Aussies dont take your jobs...... we just take your women
IXR240, I married a canuck and I have been through the residency process. it wasnt too hard, but it was hard waiting for it to come through.
it took 6 months and a lot of time fishing up at the cottage.
I have 1400 tt, 1100 float and 1136 pic and I have had an interview with someone already.
I didnt find the exams all that hard or the flight test. if you are current you should have no problems. Goto the transport Canada website to get more info.
if you can get the commercial pilot and IFR theory books over the internet and self study in Oz. that will be the best thing to do before you come over to the land of snow.
I have heard that Georgian Air is a good operator as well as a few more around the Greater Toronto Area.
In Calgary, Kenn Borek, Bar Xh, North Caribou, and Air Sprint.
Go to the links page on AvCanada and you will find a lot of operators with websites.
I hope that helps you out.
Iwill

I'm from Australia and married to a Canadian - does that mean that I also 'slutted over here and took a job under the table'? I personally know 3 Canadians who have gone in the opposite direction. Would it be fair then for my compatriats downunder to refer to them in the manner in which you've labelled Australians working in Canada? How about legitimate immigrants from Asia and the like - did they 'slut' here as well?lowandslow wrote:when has that stopped Aussies from slutting over here and taking jobs under the table... amazing, even when presented with clear case our gov't couldn't care less...
lowandslow, I'm guessing that you're currently unemployed. It's a fair bet that your attitude is getting in the way of your career rather than any of us.

Why can't we all just get along with our commonwealth cousins?
I used to work in the wine industry here in Ontario. There were a few people (Canadians & Australians) who had a great set-up. They worked their asses off here for a few months during "the crush" (aka harvest and pressing) at the end of our summer, took some time off to travel, then did the same thing in Oz at the end of their summer. Worked out to working 8 months of the year.
However in these instances, the wineries helped to arrange work visas etc, and after a few years the local immigration offices learned the drill and became very helpful. The attitude towards them in the industry: Awesome! Nobody got bent out of shape about it. They were all great guys to work with, and were some of the best and most knowledgable around.

nope, not unemployed, not yet anyways. My attitude is fine. I will compare careers with you anytime, if that's what floats your boat...
Here is a good analysis... Aussie = American... Kiwi = Canadian. End of story. That is from a Kiwi friend by the way, i can't take the credit for stating the obvious.

Well the one thing Australia has the Canada doesn't, is government set pay rates for pilots. In Australia if you fly a 180 you will be paid a minimum of XXX dollars and if you fly a Navajo you must be paid XXX dollars.
Man would that system in Canada elliminate a lot of bullshit. Maybe if all the Aussies came over to Canada to work, we could actually get that system in place here, instead of everyone just whining about the wages while agreeing to work for free.

CLguy - do you know what it took for the pilots to get this rate system from the gov? be curious to find out what we'd need to do.CLguy wrote:Well the one thing Australia has the Canada doesn't, is government set pay rates for pilots.
