Bidding system
Once a person is hired and passed their probationary period, what is the liklihood of getting a different base? For example, if one is hired and sent to Toronto, how long can they expect to get Vancouver. I know there are many factors involved, but can someon on here explain the bidding system in depth? Thanks

Strictly seniority.
Every 6 months or so you can bid on vacancies. Vancouver has always been senior and now more so than ever because of some downsizing. Currently you need about 5-6 years seniority to hold the most junior positions in Vancouver.
With 5 years seniority you could be a junior YVR 767 RP making $60,000, or a junior YYZ EMJ Captain making $115,000.

The key factor is that there must be a vacancy on the base before you can bid or get it awarded.
So when you finally have enough seniority to get there, if the base downsizes or has no growth, you ain't getting in.
I have YVR 340 F/O's who are junior to me in YVR but unless there is a vacancy, I am shutout, .........just an example.
