AvCanada hosting speed....
OK now I am certainly not trying to lodge a complaint here to whom ever it is who is offering this VERY NICE FREE service to the Canadian aviation community,
but has anyone else noticed that the site is very slow as of late?
I am wondering just who it is that ACTUALLY RUNS Avcanada, and where it is being hosted and on what; Im sure a few of us could pull some strings and get access to a bigger pipe if it would be beneficial...
PS to all those actually involved in the running of AC; thank you very much! this is a resource that is hugely helpful from both the point of view of building community and from the point of view of sharing knowledge within the industry...
PS where do I send a bottle?

There's another thread on this from the weekend. At that time, one of the guys in charge said it was probably time to reboot the server. But yup, it's still been running slow -- even sometimes impossible to log on and "page not found error" appears.
Luckily, the guys who run this site seem to care, whereas the guys who "maintain" the system at my place of work....

Are you crazy? It's the alignment of the phase couplings. How many times do I have to tell you guys!FL410 wrote:I'd imagine that the slowness is caused more by CPU limitations rather than bandwidth.

The problem is not bandwidth related nor is it related to the database.FL410 wrote:I'd imagine that the slowness is caused more by CPU limitations rather than bandwidth.
I am working on getting my machine upgraded it is just taking a little longer than I was expecting. Currently the machine I am on can not handle all of the extra traffic and connections to the databases that occur when this site is around 100+users at once.
Expect AvCanada to slow down anytime the traffic gets close to 80 users. All those who donated thanks the money is going to go to improvements in the dedicated server.
I am hoping this will all be fixed over the next two days.
